Dope (Band)
Dope is an American nu metal band from New York City, formed in 1997. The band has released six full-length studio albums with their most recent studio album, '' Blood Money Part 1'', being released in 2016. The lineup currently consists of founding member and lead singer Edsel Dope, guitarist Virus, bassist Acey Slade and drummer Daniel Fox. History Early days (1997–1998) The band was founded in 1997 by songwriter and lead vocalist Edsel Dope. As a child, Edsel and his brother Simon Dope were separated when their parents divorced. When the two were adults, they reunited and Simon joined Edsel's band, playing keyboards, samples and percussion. The pair then recruited Sloane Jentry as guitarist, Preston Nash as drummer, and Tripp Eisen as bassist. Sampling (music)
In sound and music, sampling is the reuse of a portion (or sample) of a sound recording in another recording. Samples may comprise elements such as rhythm, melody, speech, sounds or entire bars of music, and may be layered, equalized, sped up or slowed down, repitched, looped, or otherwise manipulated. They are usually integrated using hardware ( samplers) or software such as digital audio workstations. A process similar to sampling originated in the 1940s with '' musique concrète'', experimental music created by splicing and looping tape. The mid-20th century saw the introduction of keyboard instruments that played sounds recorded on tape, such as the Mellotron. The term ''sampling'' was coined in the late 1970s by the creators of the Fairlight CMI, a synthesizer with the ability to record and play back short sounds. Felons And Revolutionaries
''Felons and Revolutionaries'' is the debut studio album by the American nu metal band Dope. The album was released in 1999 on Epic Records and has sold over 236,000 copies in the United States, making it their best-selling album to date. It was re-released on June 17, 2000, with the single "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" ( Dead or Alive cover) as a bonus track. "Pig Society", "Everything Sucks", "Sick", and "Debonaire" were also released as singles, but did not chart. Track listing The track listing on the back cover of some pressings does not list the song "Fuck tha Police" as appearing on the record. This is most likely due to a typographical error, censorship, or the producers using too much of the space on the back of the album for the artwork. The original pressing for the album's Canadian release does list the song on the back cover. There are also reports that some versions of the album actually did not contain this song. Daisy Berkowitz
Scott Mitchell Putesky (April 28, 1968 – October 22, 2017), also known as Daisy Berkowitz, was an American musician, songwriter, composer, visual artist, and record producer. He was the co-founder of the rock band Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids (later shortened to just Marilyn Manson), and was the guitarist for the band until 1996. After leaving Marilyn Manson, Putesky was involved in a number of other projects such as Three ton Gate, The Linda Blairs, Jack Off Jill, Stuck on Evil (previously called Rednecks on Drugs), Kill Miss Pretty, and The Daisy Kids. Life Scott Putesky was born in Los Angeles, California, and was adopted and raised in New Jersey. His family is Jewish, but he described himself as atheist. Timothy Linton, more commonly known as Zim Zum, is an American rock musician-songwriter and former guitarist for Life, Sex & Death and rock band Marilyn Manson (1996–1998). His current projects are Pleistoscene, a solo project, and The Pop Culture Suicides. Biography Linton joined Marilyn Manson in 1996, first appearing with the band at Nothing Records' "A Night of Nothing" showcase that was held in 1996 at Irving Plaza in New York City. He toured with the band for the 1996–1997 " Dead to the World" tour. His first video with the band was " The Beautiful People". Linton became the first member of Marilyn Manson to not use a stage name that combined a sex symbol's first and a serial killer's last names. Ginger Fish
Kenneth Robert Wilson, better known by his stage name Ginger Fish, is an American drummer primarily known for playing drums for Marilyn Manson from 1995–2011. Like Marilyn Manson, which combines the names of an iconic beauty with a serial killer, his name combines those of Ginger Rogers and Albert Fish. He is now the drummer for Rob Zombie after previously joining him on a series of warm up dates in February 2011. Early life Ginger Fish was born Kenneth Robert Wilson. He is a graduate of Chaparral High School in Paradise, Nevada. Syringe
A syringe is a simple reciprocating pump consisting of a plunger (though in modern syringes, it is actually a piston) that fits tightly within a cylindrical tube called a barrel. Skinny Puppy is a Canadian industrial music group formed in Vancouver in 1982. The group is among the founders of the industrial rock and electro-industrial genres. Initially envisioned as an experimental side-project by cEvin Key (Kevin Crompton) while he was in the new wave band Images in Vogue, Skinny Puppy evolved into a full-time project with the addition of vocalist Nivek Ogre (Kevin Ogilvie).
