Bernadine Kennedy Kent is a former state representative for the 25th District of the Ohio House of Representatives. She is a Democrat. The district consists of a portion of Columbus as well as portions of Blendon, Clinton, Mifflin and Sharon townships in Franklin County. Life and career Kennedy Kent was born and raised in East Chicago, Indiana, the daughter of immigrants from the South who worked in the steel mills. She would later attend Central State University, settling in Ohio thereafter. Her husband, a Vietnam Green Beret, is the son of a Tuskegee Airman. A lifelong educator, Kennedy Kent taught for years in the Columbus Public Schools system, being named Teacher of the Year in 1999. She ran unsuccessfully for the Columbus Board of Education twice. Cecil Thomas (politician)
Cecil L. Thomas (born October 21, 1952) is an American politician and former law enforcement officer who served as a member of the Ohio Senate from the 9th district. Early life and education Thomas was born in rural northern Alabama and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio at a young age. He graduated from Withrow High School. In 1974, Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in law enforcement technology from the University of Cincinnati. He later earned another Bachelor of Science degree, in criminal justice management, from the Union Institute & University. Career After high school, he joined the Cincinnati police cadet program, and served the city of Cincinnati as a police officer for the next 27 years. In 2005, following his retirement from the police force, Thomas ran and won election to Cincinnati City Council, where he served for the next eight years. Hiram College ( ) is a private liberal arts college in Hiram, Ohio. It was founded in 1850 as the Western Reserve Eclectic Institute by Amos Sutton Hayden and other members of the Disciples of Christ Church. The college is nonsectarian and coeducational. The Ohio House of Representatives is the lower house of the Ohio General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Ohio; the other house of the bicameral legislature being the Ohio Senate. The House of Representatives first met in Chillicothe on March 3, 1803, under the later superseded state constitution of that year. In 1816, the capital was moved to Columbus, where it is located today. Democratic presidential nominee, former vice president Joe Biden, defeated incumbent Republican president Donald Trump in the presidential election.
