Donkey Riding
"Donkey Riding" is a traditional work song or sea shanty originally sung in Canada, Scotland and the Northeastern United States. It has also become popular as a children's song. The earliest written record of the song dates to 1857. The tune and words are an adaptation of "Highland Laddie". The Travellers (band)
The Travellers were a Canadian folk singing group that formed in mid-1953. They are best known for their rendition of a Canadian version of "This Land Is Your Land" with lyrics that reference Canadian geography. The group was formed as a result of singalongs at Camp Naivelt, a Jewish socialist vacation community that is operated by the United Jewish Peoples' Order in the village of Norval located west of Brampton, Ontario. Pete Seeger was a regular visitor to the camp and encouraged the group. Founding members of the group were Jerry Gray (banjo and lead singer), Sid Dolgay (mando-cello), and singers Helen Gray, Jerry Goodis, and Oscar Ross. In 1961 Goodis was replaced by Ray Woodley. ''Play School'' was a British children's television series produced by the BBC which ran from 21 April 1964 until 11 March 1988. It was created by Joy Whitby and was aimed at preschool children. Each programme followed a broad theme and consisted of songs, stories and activities with presenters in the studio, along with a short film introduced through either the square, round or arched window in the set. The programme spawned numerous spin-offs in Britain and other countries and involved many presenters and musicians during its run. Julie Stevens (born Julia Bullas; born 20 December 1936) is an English actress, presenter and singer, best known in Britain for her appearances on children's television. Career Stevens was born in Prestwich and attended Stand Grammar School. Frederick Joseph Jones (7 February 1937 – 7 October 2021) was a Canadian-born television presenter and folk musician, best known for his work in BBC children's television programmes '' Play School'' (1964–1973) and ''Fingerbobs'' in 1972.
