Doni (Bulgarian Singer)
Dobrin Dimitrov Vekilov (born May 7, 1966) (Bulgarian Cyrillic: Добрин Димитров Векилов), best known by his stage name Doni (Bulgarian Cyrillic: Дони), is a Bulgarian pop singer, composer and actor. Biography Prior to turning to singing, Doni started his education as a pharmacist but his passion for music prevailed. He began studying music in 1988 and started his professional music career in the 1990s as a member of the bands "Atlas" and "Medikus". Doni subsequently formed one of the most successful musical duos in Bulgaria with Momchil Kolev or simply Momchil. Vekilov has worked together in a musical capacity with and is married to Antoaneta Dobreva, better known by her stage name Neti, and they have a daughter. Doni Tamblyn (born 1952) is an internationally published author, comedian, and President of the corporate training company, HumorRULES, founded in the early 1990s. Both Tamblyn's books and her company espouse teaching and training through humor, in particular theatre improv-derived games. Her first book, ''The Big Book of Humorous Training Games'' contains 50 games for training business people in communication skills. The second book, ''Laugh and Learn: 95 Ways to Use Humor for More Effective Teaching and Training'' seeks to show connections between recent brain research and ongoing humor research, argue that humor enhances brain function, and show techniques for using humor and play in teaching and/or communication. The ''Doni Tondo'' or ''Doni Madonna'', is the only finished panel painting by the mature Michelangelo to survive. (Two other panel paintings, generally agreed to be by Michelangelo but unfinished, ''The Entombment'' and the so-called '' Manchester Madonna'', are both in the National Gallery in London.) The ''Portrait of Maddalena Doni'' is an oil painting by Italian Renaissance master Raphael, made ''c.'' 1506. It is housed in the Uffizi in Florence. Story The portrait is one of a pair that depict a recently married merchant and his wife. Agnolo Doni married Maddalena Strozzi in 1503, but Raphael's portraits were probably executed in 1506, the period in which the painter studied the art of Leonardo da Vinci most closely. The composition of the portraits resembles that of the ''Mona Lisa'': the figures are presented in the same way in respect to the picture plane, and their hands, like those of the Mona Lisa, are placed on top of one another. Giovanni Battista Doni (bap. 13 March 1595 – 1647) was an Italian musicologist and humanist who made an extensive study of ancient music. He is known, among other works, for having renamed the note "Ut" to "Do" in solfège. In his day, he was a well-known lawyer, classical scholar, critic and musical theorist, and from 1640 to 1647 he occupied the ''Chair of Eloquence'' at the University of Florence and was a prominent member of the city's Accademia della Crusca, the premier academic philologic society of Florence and Italy at the time. They had published the first Italian-language dictionary and grammar in 1612.
