Donbas State Technical University (DonSTU) ( uk, Донбаський державний технічний університет) is an institution of higher education located in Lysychansk, Ukraine. Today, the university is a major regional educational and scientific center in the field of technical education. History The Donbas State Technical University was founded on 12 October 1957. At that time, it was called Voroshylovsk Mining-Metallurgical Institute. In 1964, due to the changing of the town's name, the university was renamed to Kommunarsk Mining-Metallurgical Institute. In 1992, it became Donbas Mining-Metallurgical Institute (DMMI). By the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 622 of 27 July 2004, Donbas Mining-Metallurgical Institute was renamed Donbas State Technical University. The Donbas or Donbass (, ; uk, wikt:Донбас, Донба́с ; russian: wikt:Донбасс, Донба́сс ) is a historical, cultural, and economic region in eastern Ukraine. Parts of the Donbas are controlled by Russian separatist forces in Donbas, Russian separatist groups as a result of the Russo-Ukrainian War: the Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic. Alchevsk
Alchevsk ( uk, Алчéвськ, translit. ''Alchevs'k''; russian: Алчéвск) is a city of significance in the Luhansk Oblast of Ukraine. It is located approximately from the oblast capital, Luhansk. Alchevsk is one of the largest industrial centers in the Donbas, and comprises a quarter of the entire oblast's production. Lysychansk
Lysychansk ( uk, Лисича́нськ ; russian: Лисича́нск ) is a city in the Sievierodonetsk Raion of the Luhansk Oblast in Ukraine. Prior to 2020 municipal classification reforms, it was incorporated as a city of oblast significance. It is located on the high right bank of the Donets river, approximately 115 km from the oblast capital, Luhansk. It faces Sievierodonetsk across the river. War In Donbas (2014–2022)
The War in Donbas, russian: Война на Донбассе was an armed conflict in the Donbas region of Ukraine, part of the broader Russo-Ukrainian War. In March 2014, immediately following the Euromaidan protest movement and subsequent Revolution of Dignity, protests by pro-Russian, anti-government separatist groups arose in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts of Ukraine, collectively called the Donbas. These demonstrations began around the same time as Russia's annexation of Crimea, and were part of wider pro-Russian protests across southern and eastern Ukraine. Declaring the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR, respectively), armed Russian-backed separatist groups seized government buildings throughout the Donbas, leading to armed conflict with Ukrainian government forces. Krasnodon
Krasnodon (Ukrainian language, Ukrainian, Russian language, Russian: Краснодон) is a city in Luhansk Oblast (Oblast, region) of eastern Ukraine. It is incorporated as a city of regional significance (Ukraine), city of oblast significance and serves as the administrative center of Krasnodon Raion (Raion, district), though it does not belong to the raion. Sverdlovsk ( uk, Свердловськ, translit. ''Sverdlovs’k''; russian: Свердловск) is a city in Luhansk Oblast (region) of south-eastern Ukraine on the border with the Russian Federation. Perevalsk
Perevalsk (; ) is a city in the southwestern part of the Luhansk Oblast (province) of Ukraine. It is the administrative center of Perevalsk Raion. Population: , . Perevalsk was founded in 1889 as Seleznyovsky Quarry, for the workers in coal mining and it belonged to Podolian nobleman and Imperial Russian loyal subject Kazimierz Mscichowski. Over time it grew by incorporating similar miner's settlements. In 1924 it was renamed as imeni Parizhskoi Kommuny (after the Paris Commune) out of brevity was referred to as Parkommuna.
