Donatien Laurent
Donatien Laurent (27 September 1935 – 25 March 2020) was a French musicologist and linguist. Biography Donatien was born in Belfort to polytechnician Pierre Laurent and a musician mother from Nantes. During his secondary education in Paris, he discovered Breton culture. He joined the Bleimor (Scouting), Bleimor Scouts and became a bagpiper. He joined his friend Herri Léon in a program at the College of Piping in Scotland. The two friends revolutionized the bagpipe in the ''bagadoù'', which would create conflicts with Bodadeg ar Sonerion. As part of his interest in Music of Brittany, Breton music, Laurent accompanied his friends as a teenager to Paris to make sound collections of music from Bro Gwened. His first solo recording came in the summer of 1956 in Le Conquet on his brother's tape recorder. Marshal Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau, 1 July 1725 – 10 May 1807, was a French nobleman and general whose army played the decisive role in helping the United States defeat the British army at Yorktown in 1781 during the American Revolution. He was commander-in-chief of the French Expeditionary Force sent by France to help the American Continental Army fight against British forces. Military life Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur was born in Vendôme, in the province of Orléanais, and he was educated at the Jesuit college in Blois. After the death of his elder brother, he entered a cavalry regiment and served in Bohemia, Bavaria, and on the Rhine during the War of the Austrian Succession. Donatien-Marie-Joseph De Vimeur, Vicomte De Rochambeau
Donatien-Marie-Joseph de Vimeur, vicomte de Rochambeau (7 April 1755 – 20 October 1813) was a French military commander. He was the son of Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau. Biography He served in the American Revolutionary War as an '' aide-de-camp'' to his father, spending the winter of 1781–1782 in quarters at Williamsburg, Virginia. In the 1790s, he participated in an unsuccessful campaign to re-establish French authority in Martinique and Saint-Domingue. Rochambeau was later assigned to the French Revolutionary Army in the Italian Peninsula, and was appointed to the military command of the Ligurian Republic. In 1802, he was appointed to lead an expeditionary force against Saint-Domingue (Haiti) after General Charles Leclerc's death. Donatien de Bruyne (1871–1935) was a French biblical scholar, textual critic, and Benedictine. He was born on 7 October 1871 in Neuf-Église, ordained in 1895. De Bruyne examined Latin manuscripts of the Vulgate, and he collated some of the manuscripts (e.g. Codex Frisingensis, Codex Carinthianus). Amédée Donatien Doublemard
The sculptor and medalist Amédée Donatien Doublemard was born at Beaurain in Nord (French department), Nord and was taught by Francisque Duret. In 1842, he enrolled at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts, École des Beaux-Arts of Paris and began exhibiting his work at the Paris Salon in 1844. He died in Paris on 20 July 1900. In 1855 he shared the Prix de Rome with Henri Chapu. This entitled him to study at villa Médicis, Rome where he stayed for three years. On his return to Paris, he was kept busy creating busts of the rich and famous of the period.
