Donald McIntyre (Queensland Politician)
Donald McIntyre (20 April 1851 – 6 November 1927) was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early life McIntyre was born near Loch Lomond, Scotland in 1851. The son of Peter McIntyre and his wife Jane (née McFarlane), he came to Australia with his family in 1862, sailing on the ''Ocean Chief '' and landing at Moreton Bay. He found work at several Stations over the years before establishing the Greenmount Cheese Factory in 1893. He went on to open a further two cheese factories at Zahley (near present-day Goombungee) and Quinalow. Politics McIntyre won the seat of Aubigny for the Kidstonites in the 1907 state election. He served less than nine months before losing his seat at the 1908 state election. Personal life McIntyre married Mary Jane Keag on 10 July 1877 and together they had nine children. Electoral District Of Aubigny
The electoral district of Aubigny was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Queensland. It was first created in a redistribution ahead of the 1873 colonial election, and existed until the 1972 state election. Based in the Darling Downs to the north and west of the regional city of Toowoomba, Aubigny was a safe seat for the Country Party, being held by every one of its incarnations from 1915 until 1960, when it was won by the Queensland Labor Party MP Les Diplock, transferring from Condamine. Diplock held the seat as the sole parliamentary representative of the QLP (which merged with the national Democratic Labor Party in 1962) until the seat's abolition in 1972. Its most notable member was Arthur Edward Moore, member from 1915 until 1941 and Premier of Queensland from 1929 to 1932. Toowoomba Region
The Toowoomba Region is a local government area located in the Darling Downs part of Queensland, Australia. Established in 2008, it was preceded by several previous local government areas with histories extending back to the early 1900s and beyond. In 2018-2019, it had a A$491 million budget, of which A$316 million is for service delivery and A$175.13 million capital (infrastructure) budget. History Prior to the 2008 amalgamation, the Toowoomba Region existed as eight distinct local government areas: the City of Toowoomba and the Shires of Cambooya, Clifton, Crows Nest, Jondaryan, Millmerran, Pittsworth, and Rosalie. 1908 Queensland State Election
Elections were held in the Australian state of Queensland on 5 February 1908 to elect the 72 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. The election, held less than 9 months after the previous election, was made necessary by a series of events which had seen former Premier William Kidston, who commanded a majority on the floor of the Assembly, resign following an attempt to convince the Governor of Queensland to appoint sympathetic members to the Queensland Legislative Council, which had blocked key legislative measures. Following Kidston's resignation, Opposition leader Robert Philp was sent for and formed a ministry, but the ministry almost immediately lost a vote of no confidence in the Assembly, and as such, a new election had to be called. 1907 Queensland State Election
Elections were held in the Australian state of Queensland on 18 May 1907 to elect the 72 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. The election was the first one in which women had a right to vote. The election was the first held since Premier William Kidston, formerly of the Labour Party, had founded a new movement with his own supporters as well as the Parliamentary Conservatives. The end result of the election was an improvement in Kidston's position, although he was still in minority government with Labour support. The main opposition group was Robert Philp's Conservatives. Quinalow
Quinalow is a rural town and locality in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia. In the the locality of Quinalow had a population of 173 people. Geography The town is located on Darling Downs in the north of the locality and on the bank of Myall Creek. Road infrastructure The Dalby–Cooyar Road runs along the northern boundary. Geography Greenmount is a rural town on the Darling Downs. It is located just off the New England Highway south of the regional city of Toowoomba. History Greenmount was formerly known as Greenmount West, and prior to that as Emu Creek. It takes its present name from the property owned by Donald Mackintosh, a local farmer and Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly.
