Donald Kayum
Donald Amrul Kayum (born 13 October 1955) is a Guyanese former cricketer. Kayum was born in British Guiana at Georgetown. After studying at Chatham House Grammar School in Ramsgate and playing cricket for Broadstairs CC, he attended the University of Oxford in England, studying at Lincoln College. While studying at Oxford, he made his debut in first-class cricket for Oxford University against Gloucestershire at Oxford in 1977. He played first-class cricket for Oxford until 1978, making twelve appearances. Playing as a batsman, he scored 423 runs for Oxford at an average of 24.88 and a high score of 57, one of three half centuries he made. Georgetown is the capital (political), capital and largest city of Guyana. It is situated in Demerara-Mahaica, region 4, on the Atlantic Ocean coast, at the mouth of the Demerara River. The British Universities cricket team was a cricket team whose players were drawn from university students studying in Great Britain. The team played under the title of Combined Universities until 1995. The team played List A cricket from 1975 to 1998 and first-class cricket from 1993 to 2006. History Combined Universities' first matches in top-level cricket came in the 1975 Benson & Hedges Cup, a List A competition. In their first game, on 3 May, they beat Worcestershire County Cricket Club by 66 runs, thanks largely to an outstanding all-round performance by future Pakistan captain Imran Khan, who top-scored with 35 runs and took four wickets for four runs from 8.3 overs as Worcestershire were bowled out for 92 runs. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Mike Taylor (cricketer, Born 1942)
Michael Norman Somerset Taylor (born 12 November 1942) was an English first-class cricketer who played mainly for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club and Hampshire County Cricket Club in a career that spanned the 1964 and 1980 seasons and included 375 first-class and 226 limited overs matches. Taylor was born along, of course, with twin Brother Derek at Shardeloes House an 18th Century Manor House set in the Chiltern Hills just outside Amersham. His early cricket was played at Amersham Hill C.C. and then Chesham C.C. where he benefitted from being coached by Alf Pope the ex-Derbyshire bowler. Before moving to Trent Bridge Taylor played Minor County Cricket for Buckinghamshire. Whilst qualifying by residence for Nottinghamshire he enjoyed a successful season in 1963 with Spen Victoria C.C. in the Bradford League. Fenner's
Fenner's is Cambridge University Cricket Club's ground. History Cambridge University Cricket Club had previously played at two grounds in Cambridge, the University Ground and Parker's Piece. In 1846, Francis Fenner leased a former cherry orchard from Gonville and Caius College for the purpose of constructing a cricket ground. In 1848 he sub-let the ground to Cambridge University Cricket Club. Fenner's first hosted first-class cricket in 1848, with Cambridge University playing against the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). A 40 foot wooden pavilion, painted blue, with a slated roof had been erected by the 1856 season. Fenner's is also home to the Cambridge MCC University side, a partnership between the University of Cambridge, Anglia Ruskin University and the Marylebone Cricket Club established ahead of the 2010 season.
