Donald Hollas
Donald Wayne Hollas (born November 22, 1967) is a former American football player who was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) for six seasons during the 1990s. He played college football for Rice University and thereafter was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fourth round of the 1991 NFL Draft. Hollas also played for the Oakland Raiders. Playing career Hollas played his high school football in Rosenberg, Texas at Lamar Consolidated High School before playing at Rice University in the SWC from 1987 to 1990. While at Rice Hollas played both Defensive Back and Quarterback and in 1988 also punted for the Owls. In his Freshman and Sophomore seasons he played in 22 games at DB while also completing 34 passes for 416 yards and 2 touchdowns. In 1989, he became the starting quarterback playing in 9 games and passing for 1,815 yards on 156 completions with 5 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He also ran for 431 yards and 7 touchdowns. The Spring Football League (SFL) was a short lived professional american football minor league that existed for only one season in 2000. Spring football Founded by several ex-NFL players such as Eric Dickerson, Drew Pearson, Bo Jackson, and Tony Dorsett, the SFL planned to use the four-game mini-season (dubbed "Festival 2000") to test cities, fans, stadiums, the media, entertainment, and springtime American football as a product. Houston Marshals
The Houston Marshals were a professional football team based in Houston, Texas that played in the Spring Football League in 2000. The Marshals were coached by former Denver Broncos player Ray Woodard. They played their home games at Robertson Stadium on the University of Houston campus. The Marshals were stocked heavily on former Texas A&M Aggies. Randy McCown, the oldest of three brothers who would also play professional football (younger brothers Josh and Luke would have significantly longer professional careers), was the team's quarterback. Jon Gruden
Jon David Gruden (born August 17, 1963) is a former American professional football coach who was a head coach in the National Football League (NFL) for 15 seasons. He held his first head coaching position with the Raiders franchise during their Oakland tenure from 1998 to 2001, where he won two consecutive division titles and made an AFC Championship Game appearance. Gruden was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002, whom he led to their first Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XXXVII the same season. At age 39, he was the then-youngest head coach to win the Super Bowl. He served as Tampa Bay's head coach through 2008, setting the franchise record for wins, but made only two further playoff runs. Houston Thunderbears
The Houston ThunderBears were a professional arena football team based in Houston, Texas. The team finished the 2001 season as a member of the Western Division of the American Conference of the Arena Football League (AFL). The team joined the AFL in 1996 as the expansion Texas Terror. After their first two years of existence, the franchise changed their name to the Houston ThunderBears. Plagued with attendance problems through the majority of their existence, the team folded in 2001. Home games were played at the Compaq Center.
