Donald Friske
Donald Friske (born November 9, 1961) is an American politician and businessman who served as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2001 to 2011. Early life and education Born in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, Friske graduated from the Tomahawk High School and served in the United States Army from 1979 to 1985. Career Friske served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from January 3, 2001, through January 2, 2011. In March 2010, Friske announced his retirement from the State Assembly, and was succeeded by Tom Tiffany. Friske now operates Carquest AutoParts franchises in Merrill, Wisconsin, Merrill and Tomahawk, Wisconsin. He had previously worked as a deputy sheriff. Friske also served as Assistant Deputy Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Personal life He lives in Merrill (town), Wisconsin, Merrill, Wisconsin. Tomahawk is a city in Lincoln County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,346 at the 2010 census. The city is located to the northeast of the Town of Tomahawk and is not contiguous with it. History Before 1837, the land where Tomahawk is now situated belonged to the Ojibwe, who traded actively with fur traders such as the American Fur Company and the Northwest Company. After the 1837 cession, the practical situation changed only slightly: the federal survey teams had not arrived yet, logging activity was still light, and Ojibwe continued to actively occupy the general area. There was a village just north of the modern Tomahawk, in the vicinity of modern Bradley, and a village on Skanawan Creek. The 1854 Treaty of La Pointe created the reservations at Lac du Flambeau, Lac Courte Oreilles and Bad River. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Since 1973, the state has been divided into 99 Assembly districts apportioned amongst the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 99 representatives. Tom Tiffany
Thomas P. Tiffany (born December 30, 1957) is an American businessman and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Wisconsin's 7th congressional district since 2020. A member of the Republican Party, he was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2011 and the Wisconsin Senate in 2013. Tiffany succeeded Sean Duffy in Congress, winning a special election against Democrat Tricia Zunker. Early life and education Tiffany was born in Wabasha, Minnesota, and grew up on a dairy farm near Elmwood, Pierce County, Wisconsin, with five brothers and two sisters. He graduated from Elmwood High School in 1976 and earned his B.S. in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls in 1980. Merrill, Wisconsin
Merrill is a city in and the county seat of Lincoln County, Wisconsin, United States. It is located to the south of and adjacent to the Town of Merrill. The population was 9,347, according to the 2020 census. Merrill is part of the United States Census Bureau's Merrill MSA, which includes all of Lincoln County. Together with the Wausau MSA, which includes all of Marathon County, it forms the Wausau-Merrill CSA. History Merrill was first inhabited by the Chippewa Native Americans. The first European settlement there was a logging town named Jenny Bull Falls. By 1843, a trading post was constructed near the town; John Faely was the first settler. Within four years a dam, started by Andrew Warren, was constructed over the Wisconsin River. Warren then established the first mill powered by the dam, and other saw mills in the area. In 1870, T. B. Merrill is a town in Lincoln County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,980 at the 2010 census. The city of Merrill is located to the south of and adjacent to the town. The city has incorporated a portion of land that had been part of the town. The unincorporated community of Otis is also located in the town.
