Donald F. McGinley
Donald Francis McGinley (June 30, 1920 – July 6, 2005) was a Democratic politician from Nebraska who served a single term in the United States House of Representatives from 1959 to 1961 and as Nebraska's 32nd lieutenant governor from 1983 to 1987 under Governor Bob Kerrey. McGinley was a highly educated attorney with degrees from the University of Notre Dame and Georgetown University. Before practicing law, he served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II and was a reporter for the Denver Register. He was admitted to the bar and began his practice in Ogallala in 1950. After returning to Nebraska, McGinley was elected to the state legislature in 1954 and to Congress four years later. He served a single term before losing to Republican David Martin. He was a delegate to the 1964 Democratic National Convention and the 1968 Democratic National Convention. The lieutenant governor of Nebraska is the highest-ranking executive official in the State of Nebraska after the Governor of Nebraska, governor. According to the Constitution of Nebraska, Nebraska State Constitution, in the event a governor dies, becomes permanently incapacitated, resigns, or is removed from office, the lieutenant governor will become governor. Prior to the Constitution of 1875, Nebraska had no office of Lieutenant Governor. If the governor died, resigned, or was removed from office (as happened to Governor David Butler (politician), David Butler in 1871), then the Nebraska Secretary of State was appointed as Acting Governor until the vacancy would be filled by the next election. 1964 Democratic National Convention
The 1964 Democratic National Convention of the Democratic Party, took place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey from August 24 to 27, 1964. President Lyndon B. Johnson was nominated for a full term. Senator Hubert H. Humphrey of Minnesota was nominated for vice president. The convention took place less than a year after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. On the last day of the convention, Kennedy's brother Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy introduced a short film in honor of his brother's memory. Maxine Moul
Maxine Burnett Moul (born January 26, 1947) is an American politician who served as the 34th lieutenant governor of Nebraska from 1991 to 1993, the first woman to hold that position in the state. Moul is a member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party. Life and politics Moul was raised in Burt County, Nebraska. She graduated from Oakland High School and received her bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska in 1969. She worked as a writer and photographer for the ''Sioux City Journal'' in Sioux City from 1969 to 1971. She married Francis Moul in 1972 with whom she purchased the ''Syracuse Journal-Democrat''. The Mouls eventually expanded the newspaper into Maverick Media, a larger newspaper and magazine publishing company. The Selective Service System (SSS) is an independent agency of the United States government that maintains information on U.S. citizens and other U.S. residents potentially subject to military conscription (i.e., the draft) and carries out contingency planning and preparations for two types of draft: a general draft based on registration lists of men aged 18–25, and a special-skills draft based on professional licensing lists of workers in specified health care occupations.
