William Donlon Edwards (January 6, 1915 – October 1, 2015) was an American politician of the Democratic Party and a member of the United States House of Representatives from California for 32 years in the late 20th century. Early life Edwards was born in San Jose, California to Republican parents. His father and grandfather owned a land title business. After graduating from San Jose High School, Edwards earned a B.A. from Stanford University in 1936, where he was member of the Stanford golf team. Edwards then attended Stanford Law School and was admitted to the bar in 1940. Edwards was a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1940 to 1941, when he joined the United States Navy as a naval intelligence and gunnery officer during World War II. In 1950, he was elected president of the California Young Republicans, resigning after joining the United World Federalists. Don Edwards ( – October 23, 2022) was an American cowboy singer and guitarist who performed Western music. He recorded several albums, two of which, ''Guitars & Saddle Songs'' and ''Songs of the Cowboy'', are included in the Folklore Archives of the Library of Congress. Edwards also recorded the album ''High Lonesome Cowboy'' with Peter Rowan and Tony Rice. Biography Don Edwards was born in Boonton, New Jersey, in . He left home at the age of 16 to work on Texas oil fields and experience the western life. He made his professional debut in 1961 after he was hired as a singer, actor, and stuntman at the newly opened Six Flags Over Texas. He worked there for five years before moving to Nashville to seek a recording contract. In 1993 he appeared on Nanci Griffith's Grammy Award winning album ''Other Voices, Other Rooms'' on which he accompanied Griffith on a Michael Burton song entitled "Night Rider's Lament". Donald Laurie Edwards (born September 28, 1955) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who played ten seasons in the National Hockey League for the Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames, and Toronto Maple Leafs. Playing career Edwards started his hockey career in the juniors with the Kitchener Rangers in the OHA-Jr. He was very successful, playing in 90 games over 2 seasons, but was not considered a high draft pick, because of his small size. Despite that, he was still picked 89th overall in the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft by the Buffalo Sabres. In his first NHL season, Edwards played in 25 games after spending last season in the AHL with the Hershey Bears. He finished the season with 16 wins, 7 losses and a 2.51 GAA. Donnie Edwards (born April 6, 1973) is a former American football linebacker from San Diego, California. He played for thirteen seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Diego Chargers. He began his career as an All-American Collegiate at the University of California, Los Angeles. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth round of the 1996 NFL Draft. Edwards retired as one of only eight players in the history of the NFL to record more than 20 interceptions and 20 sacks during his career. Since his retirement in 2009, Edwards has devoted himself to philanthropic work with the Best Defense Foundation and children from underprivileged backgrounds.
