Donald C. MacNeil
Donald Campbell MacNeil (January 4, 1924 – October 24, 1978) was a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Cape Breton South in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1956 to 1970. He is a member of the Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative Party. MacNeil was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He attended Acadia University, St. Francis Xavier University, and Dalhousie University. Sydney, Nova Scotia
Sydney is a former city and urban community on the east coast of Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada within the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. Sydney was founded in 1785 by the British, was incorporated as a city in 1904, and dissolved on 1 August 1995, when it was amalgamated into the regional municipality. Sydney served as the Cape Breton Island's colonial capital, until 1820, when the colony merged with Nova Scotia and the capital moved to Halifax. Acadia (french: link=no, Acadie) was a colony of New France in northeastern North America which included parts of what are now the Maritime provinces, the Gaspé Peninsula and Maine to the Kennebec River. The Executive Council of Nova Scotia (informally and more commonly, the Cabinet of Nova Scotia) is the cabinet of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Almost always made up of members of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, the Cabinet is similar in structure and role to the Canadian Cabinet while being smaller in size with different portfolios. The Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, as representative of the King in Right of Nova Scotia, heads the council, and is referred to as the Governor-in-Council. Other members of the Cabinet, who advise, or minister, the viceroy, are selected by the Premier of Nova Scotia and appointed by the Lieutenant-Governor. Acadia University is a public, predominantly undergraduate university located in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada, with some graduate programs at the master's level and one at the doctoral level.
