Donald Blaine Smith (born September 18, 1947) is an American former sheriff of Putnam County, New York, and a retired United States Army officer. Personal life Donald Blaine Smith, born on September 18, 1947 in Danbury, Connecticut, grew up in the Putnam County town of Patterson, New York. Smith married Jane Powell (born 1951) on June 24, 1972, at the Holy Trinity Church in Pawling, New York; she died of breast cancer on December 6, 2015. New York Military Academy
New York Military Academy (NYMA) is a college preparatory, co-ed boarding school in the rural town of Cornwall, north of New York City, and one of the oldest military schools in the United States. Originally a boys' school, it started admitting girls in 1975. On March 3, 2015, NYMA filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and was sold at auction to Chinese-owned foundation Research Center on Natural Conservation Inc. which reopened the school in November 2015. The Commendation Medal is a mid-level United States military decoration presented for sustained acts of heroism or meritorious service. Each branch of the United States Armed Forces issues its own version of the Commendation Medal, with a fifth version existing for acts of joint military service performed under the Department of Defense.
