Donaghmore (pronounced , Irish: ''Domhnach Mór'' (great church)) is a village, townland and civil parish in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, about five kilometres (3 mi) northwest of Dungannon. In the 2011 Census it had a population of 1,122 people. The village is beside the River Torrent, formerly known as the Torrent Flow. History Etymology The name Donaghmore derives from the Irish words ''Domhnach Mór'', meaning "great church". This however is a shortened form of its original medieval name ''Domhnach Mór Magh Imchlair'' (also spelt ''in Clair''), the "great church in the plain of Imchlair", referring to the territory of the Fir Imchlair in which it lay. The Portadown, Dungannon and Omagh Junction Railway (PD&O) was an Irish gauge () railway in County Armagh and County Tyrone, Ulster, Ireland (now Northern Ireland). Early development Building of the PD&O line started from Portadown in 1855 and reached Dungannon in 1858. This first section of line opened with temporary termini at both Portadown and Dungannon. At Dungannon the delay was in order to build a half-mile tunnel because Viscount Northland objected to smoky locomotives traversing his land. In due course the PD&O succeeded in gaining access to the Ulster Railway's Portadown station and in 1861 opened for traffic not only Dungannon Tunnel but also the remainder of the route to Omagh, where it formed a junction with the Londonderry and Enniskillen Railway. The Great Northern Railway (Ireland) (GNR(I) or GNRI) was an Irish gauge () railway company in Ireland. It was formed in 1876 by a merger of the Irish North Western Railway (INW), Northern Railway of Ireland, and Ulster Railway. Dungannon Railway Station
Dungannon railway station served Dungannon in County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. The Portadown, Dungannon and Omagh Junction Railway opened the station on 5 April 1858. On 2 September 1861, the station was relocated as the line was extended to Omagh railway station completing the – Derry railway route that came to be informally called "The Derry Road".
