Don Valley West is a provincial electoral district (Canada), electoral district in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It elects one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. It was created in 1999 from parts of Don Mills (electoral district), Don Mills, York Mills (electoral district), York Mills, York East (provincial electoral district), York East and Eglinton (provincial electoral district), Eglinton. The riding was particularly notable in the 2007 election because John Tory, who at the time was leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, was defeated by his Liberal opponent Kathleen Wynne. In February 2013, Wynne became Premier of Ontario. Don River (Toronto)
The Don River is a watercourse in southern Ontario that empties into Lake Ontario, at Toronto Harbour. Its mouth was just east of the street grid of the town of York, Upper Canada, the municipality that evolved into Toronto, Ontario. The Don is one of the major watercourses draining Toronto (along with the Humber, and Rouge Rivers) that have headwaters in the Oak Ridges Moraine. The Don is formed from two rivers, the East and West Branches, that meet about north of Lake Ontario while flowing southward into the lake. The area below the confluence is known as the "lower Don", and the areas above as the "upper Don". The Don is also joined at the confluence by a third major branch, Taylor-Massey Creek. The Green Party of Ontario (GPO; french: Parti vert de l'Ontario) is a political party in Ontario, Canada. The party is led by Mike Schreiner. In 2018, Schreiner was elected as the party's first member of the Ontario Legislative Assembly. Mark Saunders (police Officer)
Mark Saunders (born 1962) is a Canadian politician and retired police officer who served as chief of police with the Toronto Police Service (TPS) from April 26, 2015 to July 31, 2020. The federal electoral redistribution of 2012 was a redistribution of electoral districts ("ridings") in Canada following the results of the 2011 Canadian census. As a result of amendments to the Constitution Act, 1867, the number of seats in the House of Commons of Canada increased from 308 to 338. The previous electoral redistribution was in 2003. Don Valley East is a provincial electoral district in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It elects one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. It was created in 1999 from parts of Don Mills, York Mills, Oriole and Willowdale. When the riding was created, it included all of North York within the following line: A hydroelectric transmission corridor located south of McNicoll Avenue to Highway 404 to Finch Avenue to the Don River East Branch to Highway 401 to Leslie Street to the CN Railway to Don Mills Road to the CP Railway to the Don River East Branch to the border of East York around Sunrise Avenue. In 2007, the boundaries were altered slightly. Bayview Avenue is a major north–south route in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario. North of Toronto, in York Region, Bayview is designated as York Regional Road 34. History Bayview Avenue follows the first concession line, laid east of Yonge Street. Over time, the concession road became known as East York Avenue, a reference to the division it formed between the city of Toronto and the township of East York. In 1931, James Stanley McLean constructed "Bay View" (now known as McLean House), a house overlooking the Don Valley with a view south down to Toronto Bay, on the edge of Moore Park and ultimately this led to the road becoming known as Bayview Avenue.
