Don Carlos Smith
Don Carlos Smith (March 25, 1816 – August 7, 1841) was the youngest brother of Joseph Smith and a leader, missionary, and periodical editor in the early days of the Latter Day Saint movement. Smith was born in Norwich, Vermont, on March 25, 1816, the seventh son of Joseph Smith Sr. and Lucy Mack Smith. As an adolescent, Smith was an early convert to the Church of Christ that was established by his brother Joseph in 1830. Don Carlos was baptized on June 9 of that year in Seneca Lake. Smith was the first editor of the Nauvoo, Illinois-based Latter Day Saint newspaper '' Times and Seasons'', beginning in June of 1839 after he and his colleague, Ebenezer Robinson, were commissioned by a council of leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to publish. Don Smith (born August 2, 1909) was a Canadian writer of detective and spy fiction. He is best remembered for his ''Secret Mission'' series of novels, starring the businessman-turned-spy Phil Sherman. Early life Smith was born Donald Taylor Smith in Port Colborne, Ontario. In 1934-1939 he was a foreign correspondent for the ''Toronto Star'' in Beijing and he piloted a fighter in the Royal Air Force during WWII. He was condecorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross for his participation in the Dieppe Raid in 1942. After the war he lived in Morocco and Majorca, manning different businesses before becoming a full-time writer in his 50s. Work Smith's first novel, ''Out of the Sea'', an action/romance paperback original was published in 1952 by Gold Medal Books. It was banned by the Irish Censorship Board for being "indecent or obscene." Don Smith (29 December 1937 – 6 October 2004), was a British International motorcycle trials rider. He was born in East London. Smith was the first FIM Trials World Champion in 1964 when the championship was known by its original title of Challenge Henry Groutars. Smith again won the title in 1967, before winning a final time in 1969. He died in Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge on 6 October 2004 at the age of 66. Biography Don Smith was the winner of what is regarded as the Inaugural FIM Trial World Championship in 1964, at the time known as the Challenge Henry Groutars Championship. He won ahead of German rider Gustav Franke, taking wins at the French and German rounds. Zaid Abdul-Aziz (born Donald A. Smith; April 7, 1946) is an American former professional basketball player. He was known as Don Smith until he changed his name to Zaid Abdul-Aziz in 1976 after he converted to Islam.
