Don Long
Donald Thomas Long (born March 17, 1962) is an American professional baseball coach. Long has spent 11 seasons as a Major League Baseball (MLB) hitting coach, serving in the role for the Pittsburgh Pirates (2008–2010), Cincinnati Reds (2014–2018), and Baltimore Orioles (2019-2021). Career A former switch-hitting infielder, Long was originally selected by the San Francisco Giants in the third round of the 1983 MLB draft. He played three years in the Giants farm system (1983–85) where he compiled a .251 batting average, 12 home runs and 76 RBI in 198 games. Before becoming a manager in the minor leagues, Long served as the head coach at Seattle University in 1986. Long is a 1980 graduate of Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood, Washington. Coach (baseball)
In baseball, a number of coaches assist in the smooth functioning of a team. They are assistants to the manager, who determines the starting lineup and batting order, decides how to substitute players during the game, and makes strategy decisions. Beyond the manager, more than a half dozen coaches may assist the manager in running the team. Essentially, baseball coaches are analogous to assistant coaches in other sports, as the baseball manager is to the head coach. Scott Coolbaugh
Scott Robert Coolbaugh (born June 13, 1966) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) third baseman who played for the Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, and St. Louis Cardinals between 1989 and 1994. He is the assistant hitting coach for the San Diego Padres. Career Playing career Coolbaugh attended Theodore Roosevelt High School and the University of Texas-Austin. Brandon Michael Hyde (born October 3, 1973) is an American professional baseball manager for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB). Hyde had previously served as the bench coach, director of player development, and first base coach for the Chicago Cubs, and as a bench coach and interim manager for the Florida Marlins. Playing career Hyde graduated from Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa, California, in 1992.
