Don Lee (musician)
Don Lee was a country singer, song writer, producer and guitarist who recorded in the 1960s and 1970s. He had a hit on the country charts with " 16 Lovin' Ounces to the Pound". He also wrote a couple more songs that became hits. One became a hit for Jerry Naylor. Background In addition to his country music background, he was a guitarist who also had a rock background. He recorded material in the 1960s that was released on two albums. Years later his album ''Keepin' It Country'' was released. There is speculation that he also had a connection to The Champs of "Tequila fame as well as being a member of Don Rich's group The Buckaroos. Career 1960s to 1970s Between 1967 and 1969, Lee had two albums released on the Custom and Crown labels. Sollie Paul "Tex" Williams (August 23, 1917 – October 11, 1985) was an American Western swing musician. He is best known for his talking blues style; his biggest hit was the novelty song, "Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! (That Cigarette)", which held the number one position on the ''Billboard'' chart for sixteen weeks in 1947. "Smoke" was the No. 5 song on ''Billboard's'' Top 100 list for 1947, and was No. 1 on the country chart that year. Billy Lee Riley (October 5, 1933 – August 2, 2009) was an American musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer. His most memorable recordings include "Rock With Me Baby", "Flyin' Saucers Rock and Roll"Variously spelled as "...Rock & Roll" or "...Rock 'n' Roll" in different sources. and "Red Hot (song), Red Hot". Biography Riley was born in Pocahontas, Arkansas, the son of a sharecropper. He learned to play the guitar from black farm workers. After four years in the Army, he first recorded in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1955, before being persuaded by Sam Phillips to record for Sun Studios. He then recorded "Trouble Bound", produced by Jack Clement and Slim Wallace. Phillips obtained the rights and released "Trouble Bound" backed with "Rock with Me Baby" on September 1, 1956 (Sun 245).
