Don Eladio Sauza
Don Eladio Sauza (June 16, 1883 – July 22, 1946) ran the Sauza Tequila business from 1909 to 1946. Early life Eladio Sauza was born June 16, 1883 in the city of Tequila, Mexico to Don Cenobio Sauza (1842 – 1909) and Doña Margarita Madrigal Navarro. His father was the founder of the famous Sauza Tequila distillery. At age 20 Eladio moved to Tecolotlan to take charge of his father's distillery, the Hacienda La Labor. There he learned the business of producing and selling tequila. Later he moved to Mazatlán in the Northeastern part of Mexico to establish a Sauza Tequila distribution center in order to increase exporting. Don Cenobio Sauza
Don Cenobio Sauza (October 30, 1842 – February 15, 1909), known as the "Father of Tequila," was one of the earliest and longest lasting distillers of the tequila spirit – founding the Sauza Tequila distillery – La Perseverancia – in 1873. Early life Cenobio Sauza was born on a farm in Jalisco, Mexico. He was the third child of Hilario Sauza (died 1857) and Doña Margarita Madrigal Navarro. He worked on his father’s farm together with his siblings Adelaida, Juana, Fernanda, Luis and Herminia until he was sixteen. In 1858 Cenobio traveled to Tequila to visit his cousin Ramon Corona Madrigal. Enamored with the county, Cenobio settled in Tequila and got a job working at the distillery of José Antonio Gómez Cuervo. There he learned how to farm agave and distill mezcal-tequila wine. Tequila
Tequila (; ) is a liquor, distilled beverage made from the Agave tequilana, blue agave plant, primarily in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, Jalisco, Tequila northwest of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Guadalajara, and in the Jaliscan Highlands (''Los Altos (Jalisco), Los Altos de Jalisco'') of the central western Mexican state of Jalisco. Mazatlán
Mazatlán () is a city in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. The city serves as the municipal seat for the surrounding ''municipio'', known as the Mazatlán Municipality. It is located at on the Pacific coast, across from the southernmost tip of the Baja California Peninsula. ''Mazatlán'' is a Nahuatl word meaning "place of deer". The city was founded in 1531 by an army of Spaniards and indigenous people. By the mid-19th century, a large group of immigrants arrived from Germany. Colonial Club is one of the eleven current eating clubs of Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey, United States. Founded in 1891, it is the fifth oldest of the clubs. El Occidental
El Occidental is a Mexican newspaper founded on August 5, 1942 in the city of Guadalajara. History El Occidental was an initiative of Ruben Villa Michel, who was also its first manager. The aim of the new journal was to create a competitor to Jalisco's oldest newspaper, El Informador. To fund the newspaper, Villa Michel received financial support from entrepreneurs such as Jorge Dipp, Carlos Dávalos, Mauricio Brun, Luis Aranguren and the archbishop monsignor José Garibi y Rivera. Journalist Restituto Herrador Calvo became the first director of the newspaper. Within weeks of having established El Occidental, Villa Michel, invited the well known journalist José Pagés Llergo, intending to strengthen the paper. Don Francisco Javier Sauza (December 8, 1903 – June 21, 1990) ran the Sauza Tequila business from 1946 until leading Mexican brandy producer Pedro Domecq purchased it in 1988. Early life Francisco Javier Sauza was born in Tecolotlan, Mexico on December 8, 1903 to Don Eladio Sauza (1883 – 1946) and Doña Silveria Mora Enriquez. His grandfather, Don Cenobio, was the founder of the Sauza Tequila distillery.
