Don Bowman (politician)
Donald John Bowman (25 May 1936 – 30 April 2013) was an Australian politician. He was the Labor member for Swansea in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1981 to 1988 and from 1991 to 1995. Bowman was born in Newcastle to electrical linesman Donald Napier Bowman and his wife Annie. He attended high school at Hamilton from 1948 to 1952, and went on to achieve a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New England in 1955. After completing his national service in 1956 he was a regional high school teacher, receiving his Diploma of Education in 1966. He joined the Labor Party in 1965 and married Margaret Estelle Thomson in 1969. He was active both in the local Labor Party and in the local teachers' associations, and in 1974 was elected to Lake Macquarie City Council, where he remained until 1980. Don Bowman (singer)
Don Bowman (August 26, 1937 – June 5, 2013) was an American country music singer, songwriter, comedian, and radio host. He recorded for RCA Victor between 1964 and 1970, charting in the Top 40 with the novelty hit single "Chit Akins, Make Me a Star". Bowman also worked at several radio stations, including KRZK in Branson, Missouri. At this time, he was also opening the show for Moe Bandy doing Seymore Miles. Bowman also worked at KDEO San Diego, KEWB Oakland, KDWB St. Paul, and KBBQ Burbank. He developed a fictional character for his radio shows named Gruesome Goodbody. In 1961 he had a country hit "Coward at the Alamo." Bowman was born in Lubbock, Texas, and was the original host of the radio show ''American Country Countdown''. He hosted the show from its inception on October 6, 1973, through April 1978, after which Bob Kingsley (who had been ACC's producer since 1974) took over as host. Don "Sugarcane" Harris
Don Francis Bowman "Sugarcane" Harris (June 18, 1938 – November 30, 1999) was an American blues and rock and roll violinist and guitarist. He is considered a pioneer in the amplification of the violin. Career Harris was born and raised in Pasadena, California, United States. His parents were carnival entertainers. As a youth, he studied classical violin, and learned additional instruments including harmonica, piano and guitar. Harris began performing with a doo-wop group, The Squires, which included his childhood friend, the pianist Dewey Terry. The Squires recorded for Vita Records. Harris performed in Little Richard's band in the 1960s. Don & Dewey Harris and Terry formed a duo in 1956 as Don and Dewey. They were recorded by Art Rupe on his Specialty label, mostly utilizing the services of legendary drummer Earl Palmer. The duo also recorded on Rupe's other labels, Los Angeles Spot and Shade.
