Dominique Witten
Dominique Witten, also known mononymously as Dominique, is an American comedian and actress. She starred in the Adult Swim television series '' Black Jesus'' (2014–2019) and ''Tropical Cop Tales'' (2019) and was a finalist on the ninth season of the NBC reality competition series ''Last Comic Standing'' in 2015. Life and career Dominique was raised in Washington, D.C. in a large Black family. Before becoming a comedian, Dominique worked at a post office in Brentwood and at an OB-GYN's office. Her first foray into comedy was at an open mic at the Greenbelt Comedy Connection in Washington; she later quit her day job and moved to the Bronx to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. Throughout her career, Dominique has made appearances on ''Chappelle's Show'', the ''Tom Joyner Morning Show'', and on ''Def Comedy Jam''. Observational Comedy
Observational comedy is a form of humor based on the commonplace aspects of everyday life. It is one of the main types of humor in stand-up comedy. In an observational comedy act, the comedian makes an observation about something which is common enough to be familiar to their audience, but not commonly discussed. Such observations are typically presented with the phrase "Have you ever noticed...?" or "Did you ever notice...?" which has become a comedy cliché. Mary Fields
Mary Fields (''circa'' 1832–1914), also known as Stagecoach Mary and Black Mary, was the first African American female star route mail carrier in the United States. She was not an employee of the United States Post Office Department, which did not hire or employ mail carriers for star routes, but rather awarded star route contracts to persons who proposed the lowest qualified bids. These people, in accordance with the department's application process, posted bonds and sureties to substantiate their ability to finance the route. Once a contract was awarded, the contractor could then drive the route themselves, sublet the route, or hire an experienced driver. Some individuals obtained multiple star route contracts and conducted the operations as a business.
