Dominik Schmid (footballer, Born 1998)
Dominik Robin Schmid (born 10 March 1998) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays for FC Basel and the Switzerland national football team. A versatile player, he most often plays on the left wing in either defense or midfield. Career Youth career Schmid started his youth football with FC Kaiseraugst but transferred early to FC Basel. He advanced through their youth system until 2015 when he joined their U-21 team. FC Basel On 10 March 2017 (his 19th Birthday he signed a three-and-a-half-year professional contract and joined their first team during their 2016–17 season under head coach Urs Fischer. He played his domestic league debut in their first team in the away game in the Letzigrund on 28 May 2017 as Basel won 3–1 against Grasshopper Club. Rheinfelden (Aargau)
Rheinfelden (; ) is a municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Aargau in Switzerland, seat of the district of Rheinfelden (district), Rheinfelden. Urs Fischer (footballer)
Urs Fischer (born 20 February 1966) is a Swiss football manager and former player who was most recently the manager of Bundesliga club Union Berlin. As a manager he has won two Swiss Super League titles with Basel in 2016 and 2017. He then took over at Union Berlin in 2018, and guided the club to their first ever UEFA Champions League qualification in 2023. Playing career During his playing career, Fischer only played for two clubs: Zürich and St. Gallen. He was captain of both teams, and is the all-time leading player with 545 caps in the Swiss Super League. He started his career in the youth department of Zürich and played his first game as professional 7 April 1984 aged 18 in a 6–1 loss against Sion. His only title is the win of the Swiss Cup 2000. Group I of UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying was one of the ten groups to decide which teams would qualify for the UEFA Euro 2024 final tournament in Germany scheduled for June and July 2024. The Challenge League (known as the Dieci Challenge League for sponsorship reasons) is the second-highest tier of the Swiss football league system and lower of two professional leagues in the country. Ten teams play in the Challenge League; the winners of the league are promoted to the Swiss Super League, Super League, while the bottom-placed team is relegated to the Promotion League. The 2017–18 Swiss Cup is the 93rd season of Switzerland's annual football cup competition. The competition started on 12 August 2017 with the first games of Round 1 and ended on 27 May 2018 with the final.
