2023–24 FC Basel Season
The 2023–24 season was FC Basel's 130th season in their existence and the club's 29th consecutive season in the top flight of Swiss football since their promotion in the 1993–94 season. The 2023–24 Swiss Super League season started in July 2023 and ended in May 2024. In addition to the Swiss Super League, Basel also participated in this season's edition of the Swiss Cup, starting in the third round. Basel also qualified for the 3rd edition of the UEFA Europa Conference League, beginning play in the second qualifying round where they were seeded. Fussball Club Basel 1893, widely known as FC Basel, FCB, or just Basel, is a Swiss football club based in Basel, in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Alexander Frei
Alexander Frei or Alex Frei (born 15 July 1979) is a Swiss professional football coach and a former player who played as a forward. He is currently the manager of Basel. He began his career at Basel, going on to various other clubs in Switzerland, France and Germany before returning to his home club, where he won the Swiss Super League title in all four of his seasons, including doubles with the Swiss Cup in 2010 and 2012. Andi Zeqiri (born 22 June 1999) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays as a striker for Swiss Super League club Basel, on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion. Darian Males ( sr, Даријан Малеш, Darijan Maleš; born 3 May 2001) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays as a forward for BSC Young Boys in the Swiss Super League. The 2022–23 UEFA Europa Conference League is the second season of the UEFA Europa Conference League, Europe's tertiary club football tournament organised by UEFA. The final will be played at Fortuna Arena in Prague, Czech Republic. Mario "Lupo" Cantaluppi (born 11 April 1974) is a Swiss former professional footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. Club career Born in Schlieren, Switzerland, Mario Cantaluppi started his professional career with Grasshopper Club Zürich in 1990 and won the 1990–91 Nationaliga A in his debut season. Swiss Promotion League
The Promotion League, named the YAPEAL Promotion League for sponsorship reasons, is the third tier of the Swiss football league system. Eighteen clubs compete in the league, playing each other twice over the course of the season. The champions are promoted to the second tier, the Challenge League, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the 1. Liga. The league forms the semi-professional bridge to amateur football. Marco Calogero Aratore (born 4 June 1991) is a Swiss football coach and a former player who played as a midfielder. He is a youth coach at Basel. He was Swiss youth international footballer.
