Dominic Walsh Dance Theater
Dominic Walsh Dance Theater (DWDT) was a contemporary dance company based in Houston Texas, Houston, Texas. Started by artistic director and former principal dancer for the Houston Ballet, Dominic Walsh, DWDT ranged from progressive to classical choreography. Dominic Walsh joined the Houston Ballet in 1989, rising to Principal Dancer in 1996. In 1998, he created Flames of Eros when Ben Stevenson (dancer), Ben Stevenson invited him to choreograph on Houston Ballet. His work won him the Choo San Goh Award for Choreography. In 2002, he formed Dominic Walsh Dance Theater. In 2004, the company received the title of one of the top Dance Magazine's "25 to Watch", "25 to Watch" by Dance Magazine. Walsh closed DWDT in 2015 after 12 seasons. In December 2015, he launched a 200-page photo book, “Dominic Walsh Dance Theater,” that he created with company photographer Gabriella Nissen. El Norte is a daily newspaper printed and distributed in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. History During the decades of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, El Norte gained important successes in exposing corruption in government. The Texas Ballet Theater was founded by Margo Dean in 1961 as the Fort Worth Ballet Association, in Fort Worth, Texas. At the invitation of Dean, Fernando Schaffenburg was invited to direct the company the following year. It became a fully professional ballet company in 1985. In 1988, after the demise of Dallas Ballet, the company began adding performances of ''The Nutcracker'' in Dallas in a business partnership with The Dallas Opera, producing Nutcracker performances in The Music Hall and using The Dallas Opera Orchestra.
