Dominic Su Haw Chiu
Dominic Su Haw Chiu (born 29 May 1939) is a Malaysian prelate of the Catholic Church. He served as the first bishop of the Diocese of Sibu from 1987 to 2011. Biography Su entered and studied at St Francis Xavier's Minor Seminary, Singapore, in 1961 to 1963. In 1964, he studied philosophy and theology at College General, Penang until 1969. He studied there together with his fellow seminarian Antony Selvanayagam, emeritus bishop of Penang. Su ordained a deacon on 28 April 1969. He was ordained to the priesthood on 4 December 1969 by the late bishop Charles Reiterer. Su then furthered his studies at Rome, to pursue Canon Law, attending the Pontifical Urbaniana University from 1979 to 1981. In 1986, Pope John Paul II appointed and consecrated Su on 6 January 1987 at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, Italy. The College General ( ms, Seminari Tinggi Katolik) is a Roman Catholic interdiocesan seminary located in Tanjung Bungah, Penang, Malaysia. The college's foundation can be traced back to the 1665 establishment of the Seminary of Saint Joseph in Ayuthia which was then the capital of Siam (now Thailand). The Apostolic Nunciature to Malaysia is the diplomatic mission of the Holy See to Malaysia, equivalent to an embassy. It is located at 17 Jalan Ampang Hilir, Kuala Lumpur. Renato Raffaele Martino (born 23 November 1932) is an Italian prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He has been a cardinal since 2003. He has been the longest serving cardinal deacon, the cardinal protodeacon, since June 2014. He served for more than twenty years in the diplomatic service of the Holy See, including sixteen years as Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Penang is situated in the northern region of Malaysia covering 5 states, namely Penang, Perlis, Kedah, Perak and Kelantan. Antony Selvanayagam is the Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Penang, Malaysia. He was elected by Pope John Paul II as the 4th bishop of Penang after the transfer of his predecessor, Bishop Anthony Soter Fernandez to the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur as the 2nd archbishop of Kuala Lumpur.
