Domenico Bernasconi
Domenico Bernasconi (17 November 1902 – 31 January 1978) was an Italian professional boxer who competed from 1924 to 1935. He was a two-time EBU bantamweight champion and a one-time Italian bantamweight champion. 1924 Olympic results Bernasconi represented Italy in the 1924 Summer Olympics. He was eliminated in the first round of the bantamweight class after losing his fight to the eventual bronze medalist Jean Ces. * Round of 32: lost to Jean Ces (France) by decision Professional career On 5 May 1925 Bernasconi fought Tullio Alessandri for the Italian bantamweight title, knocking him out in the fourth round. Panama Al Brown
Alfonso Teofilo Brown (July 5, 1902 – April 11, 1951), better known as Panama Al Brown, was a Panamanian professional boxer. He made history by becoming boxing's first Latin American world champion, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest bantamweight boxers in history.Friedman, p. 19. Brown won the NYSAC and lineal bantamweight titles in 1929 after defeating Gregorio Vidal. In 1930 he won both the NBA and IBU bantamweight titles, after defeating Johnny Erickson and Eugène Huat. After relocating to Paris, France, Brown became known within the gay nightlife of the time for his flamboyant lifestyle and his interest in the arts, performing in a cabaret. As an Afro-Panamanian in the US, Brown faced racial barriers throughout his boxing career, and had been stripped of the NYSAC and NBA titles by 1934. Lucian Popescu (12 January 1912 in Bucharest – 9 December 1982) was a Romanian boxer who won European titles in three different classes. Nicknamed ''Chocolate Boy'' ("băiatul de ciocolată"), he is considered to be the best Romanian boxer between the two world wars. Making his amateur debut on 23 December 1927, he became national champion in the flyweight class in 1928. When he was 17, he decided to turn pro and won his first match against a German boxer. On 7 June 1930, in Bucharest, he challenged flyweight European title holder Kid Oliva, a Frenchman. Having Umberto Lancia as his cornerman, Popescu won his first European belt.
