Domenico Acerenza
Domenico Acerenza (born 19 January 1995) is an Italian open water swimmer and pool swimmer. He is the 2022 European Aquatics Championships gold medalist in the 10 kilometre open water swim and the 2022 World Aquatics Championships silver medalist in the 10 kilometre open water swim. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, he placed ninth in the 1500 metre freestyle. Career 2019–2021 At the 2019 World Aquatics Championships, Acerenza won a silver medal in the 5 kilometre mixed team event. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the 1500 metre freestyle, placing ninth. In December 2021, Acerenza swam a personal best time of 1:48.12.0 in the 10 kilometer open water swim to win the silver medal in the event as part of the Abu Dhabi Aquatics Festival, finishing within three seconds of gold medalist Florian Wellbrock.

Florian Wellbrock
Florian Wellbrock (born 19 August 1997) is a German swimmer. He is the world record holder in the short course 1500 metre freestyle. He won gold medals in the 10 kilometre open water swim and 1500 metre freestyle at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships. At the 2020 Summer Olympics he won the gold medal in the 10 kilometre open water swim and the bronze medal in the 1500 metre freestyle. In December 2021, he won a gold medal in the 1500 metre freestyle at the 2021 World Short Course Championships. Career Early career He competed in the men's 1500 metre freestyle event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. At the 2019 World Aquatics Championships, he became the first swimmer to win both the 1500m freestyle and the 10 km open-water race at an international competition. Swimming At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's 1500 Metre Freestyle
The men's 1500 metre freestyle event at the 2020 Summer Olympics was held on 30 July and 1 August 2021 at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. It will be the event's twenty-seventh consecutive appearance, having been held at every edition since 1904. Records Prior to this competition, the existing world and Olympic records were as follows. Qualification The Olympic Qualifying Time for the event is 15:00.99. Up to two swimmers per National Olympic Committee (NOC) can automatically qualify by swimming that time at an approved qualification event. The Olympic Selection Time is 15:28.02. Up to one swimmer per NOC meeting that time is eligible for selection, allocated by world ranking until the maximum quota for all swimming events is reached.
