Domen, Norway
Domen is a mountain on the Varanger Peninsula in eastern Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The tall mountain is located near the coast between the small fishing village Kiberg and the island of Vardøya. Domen is bare and flat-topped, with a steep slope towards the Barents Sea below. The European route E75 highway runs along the western side of the mountain from Svartnes to Kiberg. The road is often closed in the winter due to bad weather. Name The Old Norse name of the Arctic Sea was ''Dumbshaf'' . This sea (''haf'') was named after the mountain ''Dumbr'' (an old form of ''Domen''). The name is probably related to the English word ''dumb'', but in what meaning is unclear. History and folklore Domen is often associated with the witch trials in Finnmark during the 17th century. Hen Domen
Hen Domen Welsh, meaning "old mound", is the site of a medieval timber motte-and-bailey castle in Powys, Wales. It is the site of the original Montgomery Castle, and was built by Roger de Montgomery in 1070. From 1105 the castle was the home of the de Boulers ( Bowdler) family, and it is from Baldwin de Boulers that Montgomery gets its Welsh name, Trefaldwyn "The Town of Baldwin". When the castle was rebuilt in stone (1223–1234), it was decided to rebuild it on a rocky promontory a mile to the south-east – the location of the current town of Montgomery, Powys. The Hen Domen site has been extensively excavated. There are permanent exhibitions relating to both the medieval Hen Domen and Norman Montgomery Castles and their archaeological excavations (with scale models of both castles) in The Old Bell Museum in Montgomery. Domen Lorbek (born March 6, 1985) is a Slovenian professional basketball player for KK Zlatorog Laško of the Slovenian League. He also represented the Slovenian national basketball team internationally. Standing at 1.99 m (6 ft 6.25 in), he primarily plays the shooting guard position, but can also play as small forward. He is a younger brother of Erazem Lorbek and older brother of Klemen Lorbek. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he earned his best finish of 26th in the men's singles event at Turin in 2006. Domen Prevc (born 4 June 1999) is a Slovenian ski jumper. Career 2015: World Cup debut Prevc competed in the 2015 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival. He made an individual World Cup debut on 22 November 2015 in Klingenthal with eighth place. He needed only four World Cup starts to reach his first podium on 19 December 2015 in Engelberg where he took second place. At that event, Domen and Peter Prevc shared a podium as the first brothers in the World Cup history. 2016: First win and yellow bib Prevc won his first World Cup individual event on 25 November 2016 at the 2016–17 season opening in Kuusamo/Ruka, and therefore wore yellow bib as the World Cup overall leader for the first time in his career.
