Raul Solnado
Raul Augusto de Almeida Solnado (19 October 1929 - 8 August 2009) was a popular Portuguese actor and comedian. He was born in Lisbon's Madragoa neighborhood, and first appeared on stage there. In his long career, he developed many comic pieces that have become classics. His humour was, at the time (especially considering Portugal was still under the dictatorial Salazar regime), both unexpected and fresh. It included a lot of nonsense, and stories making fun of daily life. He often played an ingenuous poor man, whose life was neither good or bad. He portrayed characters with conviction and humor. Glicínia Quartin (1924 2006) was a Portuguese stage, film and television actor who received several awards for her performances. Early life and training Glicínia Vieira Quartin was born on 19 December 1924, in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon. She was the daughter of the radical teacher, freemason and feminist Deolinda Lopes Vieira and of the anarchist intellectual, António Pinto Quartin. At home, she was exposed to the friends of her parents who were journalists, writers, teachers and members of the feminist movement, such as Maria Lamas and Ana de Castro Osório. Quartin married at the age of 21, against her parents' wishes. Initially studying agronomy for a year, she then transferred to the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, graduating in 1954 in biological sciences, while also studying nutrition. João Nicolau de Melo Breyner Moreira Lopes GOIH GOM (30 July 1940 – 14 March 2016), better known as Nicolau Breyner, was a Portuguese actor, screenwriter, producer, director and television host. He was one of the most well-known figures in Portuguese television and cinema, having performed in more than 170 films and television series in his career. Early life Nicolau Breyner was born in Serpa, Portugal, on 30 July 1940. His parents were Nicolau Moreira Lopes (1915–1965) and Augusta Pereira da Silva de Melo Breyner Pereira (1920–2003).
