Dolphin Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club in Cork (city), Cork. It was founded in 1902, by members of Dolphin Swimming Club seeking to find a wintertime activity. They play in Division 2A of the All-Ireland League (rugby union), All-Ireland League. Former Irish Coach, Declan Kidney played for the club in the 1980s and early 1990s. Michael Kiernan, with 43, is the club's most capped international player. J S McCarthy and Terry Kingston both captained Ireland. Tomás O'Leary was the scrum half on Ireland's 2009 Six Nations Championship, 2009 Grandslam winning team. IRFU
The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) ( ga, Cumann Rugbaí na hÉireann) is the body managing rugby union in the island of Ireland (both Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland). The IRFU has its head office at 10/12 Lansdowne Road and home ground at Aviva Stadium, where adult men's Irish rugby union international matches are played. In addition, the Union also owns the Ravenhill Stadium in Belfast, Thomond Park in Limerick and a number of grounds in provincial areas that have been rented to clubs. Tomás O'Leary
Tomás O'Leary (born 22 October 1983) is an Irish former rugby union player who played as a scrum-half. O'Leary played most of his career in the United Rugby Championship with Munster, where he was part of the team that won the Heineken Cup in 2006 and again in 2008. He also played in the English Premiership with London Irish, and the Top 14 with Montpellier. Internationally, he represented Ireland, where he was a member of the team that won the 2009 Six Nations Championship and Grand Slam. Also in 2009, he was selected for the British & Irish Lions, though injury prevented him from touring with the squad. O'Leary retired from professional rugby in July 2017. Noel Elliott
James Noel Elliott (1947 – 26 February 2021) was an Irish rugby union player. He played in the back row for Dolphin RFC and Munster. Career Elliott enjoyed his first rugby successes when he won Senior Cup and Junior Cup medals with Presentation Brothers College at prop forward and also played for Munster Schools for two seasons. He led the Dolphin U20 team to win the Dooradoyle Cup, a 7-a-side competition, beating University College Dublin in the final thanks to his two tries. As club captain during the 1972-73 season he guided Dolphin to the Munster Senior League title. Elliott subsequently changed positions to wing forward, a move which suited him, as he went on play many times for Munster, including in a narrow loss to Australia, while he also made the national squad for a period.
