Dolphin F.C. (Ireland)
Dolphin Football Club was an Irish association football club, originally based in the Dublin suburb of Dolphin's Barn. History Dolphin was formed by a group of butchers in 1921, the same year the League of Ireland was founded. These founders included butchers of German origin whose families arrived in Dublin in the late 1800s and who were associated with the Butchers Club on Gardiner Street, Dublin. William Reinhardt was one of the founders . The club was called Dolphin F.C. as it first played in the Dolphins Barn area of Dublin. It played in the League of Ireland between 1930–31 and 1936–37. In 1934–35 they were League of Ireland champions. After St James's Gate, Shamrock Rovers, Bohemians, Shelbourne and Dundalk, Dolphin became the sixth club to win the League of Ireland title. Harold's Cross Stadium
Harold's Cross Stadium was a greyhound racing stadium in Harold's Cross, Dublin, owned and operated by the Irish Greyhound Board. Facilities included a grandstand restaurant, carvery, a number of bars, totalisator betting and seating. Racing took place every Tuesday and Friday evening and race distances were 325, 525, 550, 570, and 750 yards and the feature competitions at the track were the Corn Cuchulainn, the Puppy Derby and the Grand National. The stadium closed on 13 February 2017 due to financial constraints at the owner. The proceeds from the sale were proposed be used to help pay a €20.3 million debt incurred from the construction of Limerick Greyhound Stadium. 1932–33 FAI Cup
The FAI Cup 1932/33 was the twelfth edition of Ireland's premier cup competition, The Football Association of Ireland Challenge Cup or FAI Cup. The tournament began on 26 December 1932 and concluded on 26 March 1933 with the final replay held at Dalymount Park, Dublin. Willie Fallon
William Joseph Fallon (14 January 1912 – 23 March 1989 was an Ireland international footballer. His career spanned twenty years during the 1930s and 1940s. Fallon played for several clubs in the English League, most notably Notts County and Sheffield Wednesday, and in the League of Ireland. He won an FAI Cup winners medal and League of Ireland title with Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne respectively. He also scored in three FAI Cup finals for three different teams – Dolphin, Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne. After retirement from football, Fallon lived in the Nottingham area and worked in the building trade. Jimmy Bermingham was an Irish footballer who played as forward during the 1920s and 1930s. Bermingham was an outside right during this era in the League of Ireland and was part of the Bohemians team of 1927/28 who won every trophy on offer that season – League of Ireland, FAI Cup, Shield and Leinster Senior Cup. Joe Kendrick (footballer, Born 1905)
Joe Kendrick (26 June 1905 – 27 October 1965) was an Irish footballer who played for Brooklyn F.C., Everton and Dolphins. As an international he also played for the Irish Free State. In 1924 Kendrick was member of the Irish Free State team when it made its competitive debut at Olympic Games. In 1934 he was also a member of the first ever Free State team to play in a World Cup qualifier. His great nephew, Joe Kendrick Jr., also showed potential as a footballer and as youth was contracted to both Newcastle United and TSV 1860 Munich. Alex Stevenson
Alexander Ernest Stevenson (9 August 1912 – 2 September 1985) was an Irish footballer who played for Rangers and Everton, amongst other teams. As an international, Stevenson also played for both Ireland teams – the FAI XI and the IFA XI. Stevenson is the only footballer to have played for both the FAI XI and Rangers and is one of only four players born in what is now the Republic of Ireland to play for the club, the others being Alex Craig, James Lowry McAuley and Jon Daly.
