Doll Man
Doll Man is a superhero first appearing in American comic books from the Golden Age of Comics, originally published by Quality Comics and currently part of the DC Comics universe of characters. Doll Man was created by cartoonist Will Eisner and first appeared in a four-page story entitled "Meet the Doll Man" in ''Feature Comics'' #27. He was Quality's first super-powered character. The issue's December 1939 cover date indicates that Doll Man is the first comic book superhero with a shrinking power. He notably predates the more-famous Ray Palmer (DC's the Atom) and Hank Pym (Marvel Comics' Ant-Man) by two decades. ''Dollman'' is a 1991 American science fiction action film directed by Albert Pyun and starring Tim Thomerson as the space cop Brick Bardo, also known as "Dollman"; he is only 13 inches (33 cm) tall. Bardo is equipped with his "Kruger Blaster", which is the most powerful handgun in the universe. The film also stars Jackie Earle Haley as Bardo's human enemy, Braxton Red. "Brick Bardo" is a character name used by Albert Pyun in films dating back to his second film, ''Radioactive Dreams''. The film was produced by Full Moon Features, who also worked with Thomerson on the ''Trancers'' series. It was followed by a crossover sequel in 1993 called ''Dollman vs. Demonic Toys'', which is also a sequel to ''Demonic Toys'' (1992) and ''Bad Channels'' (1992). Life and work Elder son of the artist John Charles Dollman, Guy Dollman was born on 4 September 1886 and attended St Paul's School (London), St Paul's School, winning a scholarship to study at St John's College, Cambridge. In February 1907, while still a student, he was employed by the Department of Zoology at the British Museum (Natural History), where he spent most of his working life as Assistant Keeper of Mammals. In 1912, on an expedition to Vietnam, he discovered and named the Tonkin snub-nosed langur. He joined the British Army in 1915, and obtained a commission in the 19th London Regiment. John Charles Dollman
John Charles Dollman RWS RI ROI (6 May 1851 – 11 December 1934) was an English painter and illustrator. Life Dollman was born in Hove on 6 May 1851 and moved to London to study at South Kensington and the Royal Academy Schools, after which he set up a studio at Bedford Park, London, designed for him by Maurice Bingham Adams. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1870 to 1912, and was elected RWS (Member of the Royal Watercolour Society) in 1913. Dollman was also an illustrator, working in black and white or colour for magazines such as ''The Graphic'' during and after the 1880s.
