Dolan ( ga, Ó Duibhlin , Ó Dubhshláin, Ó Dubhlainn and Ó Dúláin) is a surname of Irish origin. The name Dolan is fairly common today in Ulster, particularly in Cavan and Fermanagh, and also in the Connacht Counties of Roscommon and Galway. The latter is the place of origin of this sept which is a branch of the Ui Máine (Hy Many) specifically in the Clonmacnowen Barony in Galway and in the Barony of Athlone in Roscommon. History In Sligo The Dolan family traces its origin back to Fiacha Suighe, who was the son of Fedlimid Rechtmar, the High King of Ireland from 110 AD to 119 AD. Dolan People
Dolan ( Uyghur: دولان, Долан; Simplified Chinese: 刀朗 or 多朗) refers to a people or region of what is now Xinjiang Province, China. People who call themselves Dolan can be found in Awat County, the Yarkand River valley, the Tarim River valley and the Lop Nur region of present-day Xinjiang. Though modern Dolan people now speak the vernacular dialect (usually Uyghur), the term refers to an earlier culture and civilization in the region. The history of this people is little known. Some scholars and travelers believed the Dolan of the Yarkand River valley to be a Kazakh or Kyrgyz group that settled in the area during the Qing dynasty. This belief was based on their noticeably different physiognomy and language and their semi-nomadic lifestyles. John Avetaranian met some of them and mentioned it in his autobiography. Dolan Springs is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,989 at the 2020 census, down from 2,033 at the 2010 census. Geography Dolan Springs is located in north-central Mohave County at (35.615835, -114.260804). U.S. Route 93 forms the western boundary of the community, which extends northeast across Detrital Valley and into a smaller valley between the Cerbat Mountains to the south and Table Mountain Plateau to the north. The Dolan Fire was a large wildfire that burned in the Big Sur region and other parts of the Santa Lucia mountain range in Monterey County, California, in the United States as part of the 2020 California wildfire season. The fire began at approximately 8:15 p.m. on August 18, 2020. On September 8, 15 firefighters were injured, one critically, when they were forced to deploy emergency fire shelters at Nacimiento Station. Ten adult California condors and two chicks died in the blaze, which began about a mile south of the Big Sur Condor Sanctuary in Monterey County. The nonprofit Ventana Wildlife Society of Monterey lost a sanctuary that has been used to release the captive-bred condors into the wild since 1997.
