Doktor Martin (German TV Series)
''Doktor Martin'' is a German television comedy drama series produced by production company Phoenix Film for the German television channel ZDF. The first series was broadcast in July 2007, the second in July 2009. The series is an adaptation of the British television series Doc Martin, which is broadcast on the British television channel ITV. Synopsis Axel Milberg plays Dr. Martin Helling, a vascular surgeon from Berlin who hangs up his job because of a phobia of blood, so he moves to the East Frisian village of Neuharlingersiel for a new beginning. However, everything is very different from his city life; there is no hassle in the practice, patients prefer to stay for a cup of tea. The comedy of the series is mostly centred on the peculiarities of the villagers. Ellen Schwiers
Ellen Schwiers (11 June 1930 – 26 April 2019) was a German actress of stage, film, and television. She was featured in world premieres of plays by Dürrenmatt and Frisch at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, and appeared as Buhlschaft in '' Jedermann'' at the Salzburg Festival. In a career from 1949 to 2015, she also appeared in more than 200 films and television shows, including popular series such as ''Tatort''. She also directed plays, founded a touring theatre company in 1982, and was Intendant of a festival from 1984. ''Doc Martin'' is a British medical comedy drama television series starring Martin Clunes as Doctor Martin Ellingham. It was created by Dominic Minghella after the character of Dr Martin Bamford in the 2000 comedy film '' Saving Grace''. The programme is set in the fictional seaside village of Portwenn and filmed on location in the village of Port Isaac, Cornwall, United Kingdom, with most interior scenes shot in a converted local barn.
