Doische (; wa, Dweche) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Namur, Belgium. On 1 January 2006 the municipality had 2,846 inhabitants. The total area is 84.02 km², giving a population density of 34 inhabitants per km². The municipality consists of the following districts: Doische, Gimnée, Gochenée, Matagne-la-Grande, Matagne-la-Petite, Niverlée, Romerée, Soulme, Vaucelles, and Vodelée. Philippe Buchez
Philippe-Joseph-Benjamin Buchez (1796–1865), more commonly called Philippe Buchez, was a French historian, sociologist, and politician. He was the founder of the newspaper ''L'Atelier'', and he served briefly, in 1848, as the president of the Constituent National Assembly, which was then meeting at the Palais Bourbon in Paris. Buchez was born at Matagne-la-Petite, which is part of the town of Doische in the province of Namur, in Belgium. At the time of his birth (31 March 1796), however, the village was part of the French ''département'' of the Ardennes. He died on 11 August 1865 in the south of France, at Rodez, in the department of Aveyron. Soulme
Soulme ( wa, Soûme) is a village in Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Doische, located in the province of Namur, Belgium. The village consists of about 50 houses surrounding the village church. Several of the buildings are from the 18th and 19th centuries. The location has been inhabited at least since Gallo-Roman times, however, as indicated by archaeological discoveries. The first time the village was mentioned in written sources was 1057. During the early Middle Ages, the village belonged to the Abbey of Florennes. The village church was built by monks from the abbey; it still retains its Romanesque tower from this time. The nave of the church is from the 16th century, in a Gothic style, and the chancel is also Gothic, from the 13th century. The village mill is from the end of the 17th century. Daniel Petit (born September 27, 1948 in Doische, Belgium) is a Canadian politician. A lawyer by profession, Petit is a graduate of Université Laval and was called to the Quebec bar in 1973. He is a founder and partner of the firm Petit, Beaudoin, Société nominale d'avocats. Petit specialized in labour and administrative law and has organized for the Conservatives and the Progressive Conservatives since the 1980s. He was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 2006 federal election as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Charlesbourg—Haute-Saint-Charles. He defeated incumbent Bloc Québécois MP Richard Marceau to win the seat. In the 2011 election, he was defeated by Anne-Marie Day of the NDP. Niverlée ( wa, Niverlêye) is a village in Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Doische, located in the province of Namur, Belgium. Until the French Revolution, Niverlée belonged to the lords of Hierges. It is mentioned in written sources in 1140 as Nevreleis. Florennes (; wa, Florene) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Namur, Belgium. As of 1 January 2006, Florennes has a total population of 10,754. The total area is 133.55 km² which gives a population density of 81 inhabitants per km².
