Stephen Gugel Doig (born March 28, 1960) is a former professional American football player who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Detroit Lions (1982–1984) and the New England Patriots ( 1986–1987) He was a 3rd round selection (69th overall) of the 1982 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions out of the University of New Hampshire. Peter Muir Doig (27 October 1911 – 31 October 1996) was a British Labour Party politician. Doig was educated at Blackness School, Dundee, before taking evening classes. He later became a sales supervisor. He joined the Labour Party in 1930. During the Second World War he served in the Royal Air Force. He was elected a Dundee town councillor for ten years, serving as honorary town treasurer. Doig contested Aberdeen South in 1959. He was Member of Parliament for Dundee West from a 1963 by-election to 1979, preceding Ernie Ross. On 22 September 1963, Doig was chosen ahead of five other people to be the Labour Party candidate in the by-election. At the time he was a bakery supervisor and chairman of the Labour group on Dundee Town Council. He was also deputy chairman of the council. John Norman Doig (24 July 1910 – 29 July 2001) was an Australian rules footballer who played for East Fremantle in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL) during the 1930s. He also had a brief stint with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Doig was from a famous footballing family, with his first cousins George Doig and Ron Doig, amongst others, playing league football. John Edward Doig (29 October 1866 – 7 November 1919) was a Scottish footballer, who played as a goalkeeper. He played the peak of his career for Sunderland, in a period of time in the club's history where they were dubbed the 'team of all talents'. He also played for Arbroath and Liverpool at club level, and was selected for Scotland five times. Noted for his exceptional performances in goal, he was also famously shy of his baldness, and always wore a cap with elastic. He set a 19th-century world record by not conceding any goals in 87 of his 290 top division appearances (30%). He served as leader of the Communist Party of Canada - Ontario in the 1981 provincial election, and was a prominent member of the federal party. Keith McKeddie Doig (11 December 1891 – 3 January 1949) was an Australian rules footballer who played with University in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Doig was born in Nathalia, Victoria and his school education was at Geelong College, where he was dux of the school and captain of both cricket and football. From there he went to Ormond College at the University of Melbourne and it was a mark of respect for him as a schoolboy that his fees at Ormond were paid by the headmaster of Geelong College.
