Dogbowl
Stephen Tunney, also known as Dogbowl, is an American artist, musician and novelist. He was a founding member of the avant-garde band King Missile (Dog Fly Religion), and has recorded many albums as a solo act. He is also the author of two novels, the surreal, post-apocalyptic ''Flan,'' published in 1992 by Four Walls Eight Windows, and ''One Hundred Percent Lunar Boy,'' published in 2010 by MacAdam/Cage. ''One Hundred Percent Lunar Boy'' takes place on a terraformed Moon two thousand years in the future and chronicles the misadventures of sixteen-year-old Hieronymus Rexaphin, a boy who can see the fourth primary color, and the trouble he gets into after showing his unusual eyes to a teenage tourist girl from Earth. King Missile
King Missile is an American avant-garde art rock band best known for its 1992 single "Detachable Penis". Vocalist John S. Hall has fronted several disparate incarnations of the group since founding it in 1986. History King Missile (Dog Fly Religion) In 1985, writer John S. ''The Zeppelin Record'' is the fifth studio album by Dogbowl, released in September 1998 by Lithium Records. Released five years after 1993's '' Project Success'', ''The Zeppelin Record'' marked the first time Dogbowl had not issued an album through Shimmy Disc and had gone without the collaborative aid of his brother Christopher Tunney and producer Kramer. Stephen Tunney (born December 1959 in Bronx, New York) is an American artist who is a novelist, a painter and a musician. Education Stephen Tunney graduated from Parsons School of Design with a BFA in 1982. He received an MFA from the City College of New York in 1991. Writer Stephen Tunney's last novel ''One Hundred Percent Lunar Boy'', was published by the American publisher MacAdam/Cage in 2010. It received the Barnes and Noble "Discover Great New Writers Series" for 2010-2011. ''One Hundred Percent Lunar Boy'' was translated into French and published in France by les Éditions Albin Michel (WIZ Collection) under the title "Quand on s'embrasse sur la Lune" in 2012. Shimmy Disc is a New York City-based independent record label founded in 1987 by Mark Kramer. Before it was sold to the Knitting Factory, artists like Bongwater, Daniel Johnston, Fly Ashtray, Galaxie 500, King Missile, Boredoms, Ruins, Ween, Gwar, The Semibeings, and Uncle Wiggly recorded on the label. The label also released compilations albums such as "Rutles Highway Revisited (A Tribute To The Rutles)", 1990, which featured various artists from the label, and also introduced new artists like Paleface. In 2020, Kramer revived the Shimmy-Disc label in partnership with Joyful Noise Recordings with their first release ''Songs We Sang In Our Dreams,'' the debut album of Kramer's project with Xan Tyler, Let It Come Down.
