Dog Eat Dog (Joni Mitchell Album)
''Dog Eat Dog'' is the 12th studio album by the Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, released in 1985. It was her second album for Geffen Records. As with its predecessor '' Wild Things Run Fast'', ''Dog Eat Dog'' moves away from Mitchell's previous folk and jazz influences in favour of 1980s studio pop. The album was a particular departure for Mitchell due to its highly synthetic sound – it was the first (and one of the few albums) on which she plays no guitar and on which she focuses entirely on keyboards (mostly synthesizers and the Fairlight CMI sampler). ''Dog Eat Dog'' also featured an expanded role for Mitchell's bass-playing husband Larry Klein, who not only co-produced and played keyboards, but played a significant part in shaping the album's technological pop sound and also wrote the music for two of the songs. All guitars were played by session musician Michael Landau, using an electric/textural approach very different from Mitchell's own. On later albums, Mi ...

Polka Party!
''Polka Party!'' is the fourth studio album by "Weird Al" Yankovic, released on October 21, 1986. The album was produced by former The McCoys guitarist Rick Derringer. Recorded between April and September 1986, the album was Yankovic's follow-up to his successful 1985 release, ''Dare to Be Stupid''. The album's lead single, " Living With a Hernia", failed to chart. The music on ''Polka Party!'' is built around parodies and pastiches of pop and rock music of the mid-1980s, featuring direct parodies of James Brown, Mick Jagger, El DeBarge and Robert Palmer. The album also features many "style parodies", or musical imitations that come close to, but do not copy, existing artists. These style parodies include imitations of specific artists like Talking Heads, as well as imitations of various musical genres like country music. Peaking at No. 177 on the ''Billboard'' 200, ''Polka Party!'' was met with mixed-to-negative reviews and was considered a commercial and critical failure. D ...

Free-for-All (Ted Nugent Album)
''Free-for-All'' is the second studio album by American hard rock musician Ted Nugent. It was released in October 1976 by Epic Records, and was his first album to go platinum. Background As the recording of ''Free-for-All'' commenced, rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist Derek St. Holmes left the band, citing growing personal and creative conflicts with Nugent. Two solid years of living together on the road had taken its toll on the relationship. Additionally, St. Holmes was unhappy with Tom Werman's production, saying that the producer was watering down the band's sound. A full year before ''Bat Out of Hell'' brought him international success, vocalist Meat Loaf was brought in by producer Werman to sing on the album. Meat Loaf was paid the sum of $1,000 for his contributions to the album, which included crafting his vocal arrangements and two days of recording sessions. He says that after he agreed to do the album he was sent a lyric sheet containing just the words with no arr ...

Hocico
Hocico () is a Mexican electro-industrial duo that was formed in 1993 in Mexico City. History Hocico was officially formed in 1993 by cousins Erik Garcia (aka Erk Aicrag) and Oscar Mayorga (aka Racso Agroyam), with Erik writing lyrics and performing the vocals and Oscar responsible for the programming. They had experimented with electronic music since they were teenagers and were influenced by industrial artists such as Skinny Puppy. Their interest in the industrial and EBM genres led them to begin their musical career in 1989 in a group called Niñera Degenerada. In 1992 the two cousins left the band and went on to form Hocico de Perro. Soon after they dropped the "de Perro" and continued simply as Hocico. The Spanish word "hocico" translates to ' snout' or 'muzzle' in English, and is used in Mexico as a disrespectful way to describe someone's comments coming out of their mouth. In certain contexts, "callate el hocico" could be interpreted as, essentially, "shut up your fuc ...

Stakes Is High
''Stakes Is High'' is the fourth studio album by American hip hop group De La Soul. It was released on July 2, 1996, through Tommy Boy Records. The album marked a change in the group's sound and direction as it was their first release not to be produced in collaboration with Prince Paul. ''Stakes Is High'' was mainly produced by the group themselves with additional tracks provided by Jay Dee, DJ Ogee, Spearhead X and Skeff Anslem. It is considered to be the group's darkest and most serious album in terms of subject matter and production. It received mostly strong reviews but little commercial success. History ''Stakes Is High'' marked the first time the group did not collaborate with long-time producer Prince Paul on an album, as the group felt that the production that he turned in for the album didn't correctly match the album's mood. After the album's release, the group toured extensively and remained rather quiet before returning in 2000 with the first installment in the ...
