Dodgen Middle School is a middle school located in East Cobb, Georgia, United States, and is part of the Cobb County School District. As of 2019, the current principal is Patrcia Alford, and its assistant principals are Bradley Blackman and Andrew Lorentz. As of the 2018-19 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,246 students and 67 teachers, for a student–teacher ratio of 18.61. Awards and achievements In 2013, Dodgen Middle School was awarded the Georgia Schools of Excellence Award by Barack Obama. In the 2011–2012 school year, Dodgen Middle School was named as a participating school in The Clean Air Campaign. Dodgen's Science Olympiad team won their state competition in 2013 and then became the first Cobb County middle school to qualify for the national competition. Cobb County School District
The Cobb County School District (CCSD) is the county government agency which operates public schools in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. The school district includes all of Cobb County except for the Marietta City Schools, though a number of schools in unincorporated parts of the county have Marietta addresses. It is the second-largest school system in Georgia (behind only Gwinnett County Public Schools) and among the largest in the United States. Marietta is a city in and the county seat of Cobb County, Georgia, United States. At the 2020 census, the city had a population of 60,972. George Walton Comprehensive High School, also known as Walton High School, is a public high school located in Marietta, Georgia, United States. It is in eastern Cobb County and is a charter school in the Cobb County School District. It is a School of Excellence and the number one public school in the state. It is the largest high school in the East Cobb area. For many years Walton has been among the top high schools in Georgia in SAT scores. East Cobb is an unincorporated community in Cobb County, Georgia, United States, with a population of 175,890 people. It is an affluent northern suburb of Atlanta. History The area was developed as a suburb of Atlanta beginning in the 1960s. In contrast to other northern suburbs of Atlanta, East Cobb has remained unincorporated. The Clean Air Campaign
The Clean Air Campaign is a not-for-profit organization that motivates Georgians to take action to improve air quality and reduce traffic congestion. The organization was formed in 1996 by government, business, civic, health, environmental and educational organizations to address traffic congestion and air quality issues in the metro Atlanta region. Until 2014, The Clean Air Campaign received 80 percent of its funding from U.S. Department of Transportation Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) Program funds. Science Olympiad is an American team competition in which students compete in 23 events pertaining to various fields of science, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Over 7,800 middle school and high school teams from 50 U.S. states compete each year. U.S. territories do not compete; however, since 2012 high school teams from Japan have competed at the national tournament as unranked guests. There are multiple levels of competition: invitational, regional, state, and national. Invitational tournaments, run by high schools and universities, are unofficial tournaments and serve as practice for regional and state competitions.
