A mountain range or hill range is a series of mountains or hills arranged in a line and connected by high ground. A mountain system or mountain belt is a group of mountain ranges with similarity in form, structure, and alignment that have arisen from the same cause, usually an orogeny. Sierra is a Canadian progressive metal band formed in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. Their music fuses elements of progressive rock, heavy metal music, heavy metal, and instrumental music. Sierra have been touring since 2012, opening for bands such as Weedeater (band), Weedeater, The Obsessed, Kylesa, Unsane (band), Unsane, and Karma to Burn. The band was formed by Jason Taylor and Robbie Carvalho who have been playing together since they were kids. They met after Jason posted an ad in a music store looking for young musicians into 1970s progressive rock. Jason was 15 and Robbie was 12 at the time. Their first album, ''Pslip'', was the first release on the Kylesa operated record label Retro Futurist Records. The album, as with all of their albums since, was recorded at The Jam Room Studios in North Carolina, by Phillip Cope of Kylesa. Sierra was an American Contemporary Christian music, Contemporary Christian pop music, pop trio (music), trio formed by Wendi Foy Green (wife of well-known producer and sound engineer, Brian Green), Jennifer Hendrix, and Deborah Schnelle (wife of studio songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Rex Paul Schnelle). Founded in 1992, the vocal-based trio released their first full-length, self-titled album in 1994 on the Contemporary Christian music label, Star Song. In 1998, Deborah Schnelle left the group and was soon replaced by Marianne Tutalo (wife of Coury Adams).
