Dodge M37
The Dodge M37 -ton 4x4 truck (G741) was Dodge's follow-up to their successful WC Series from World War II. Introduced in 1951, it was used extensively by the United States armed forces during the Korean war. In the 1970s, they were replaced by the Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) based -ton trucks Kaiser M715 (late 1960s), and Dodge's M880/M890 series (1970s). History Six prototypes of the vehicle were produced in early-to-mid 1950 based on the WC series Dodge vehicles used in World War II, with the first pre-production pilot vehicle rolling off the assembly line on 14 December 1950. Many of the components on the M37 are similar or identical to the World War II vehicle and many deficiencies of the previous series were corrected in the M37. Warren Truck Assembly
Warren Truck Assembly is a Stellantis automobile factory in Warren, Michigan. The factory opened in 1938 and was known as "Dodge City" until the mid-2000's. The nearby Warren Stamping opened in 1949 and just south of Eight Mile Road in Detroit, the Mound Road Engine plant opened in 1953. There also was once the nearby Sherwood Assembly that closed in the late 1970s when Chrysler halted production of the Dodge Medium and Heavy Duty trucks and exited the market. It was located on the southwest corner of 9 Mile Road and Sherwood, adjacent to the Warren Assembly site on the east. The facility was the site of Dodge Dakota production from 1987 through 2011, with over 2.75 million vehicles produced. The Warren Truck plant became the sole source of Ram 1500 Rebel production in 2015. The G-890 Truck, -ton, 4×4, Kaiser Jeep M715, sometimes called the "Five quarter (ton)", for its ton payload rating, is an American light military truck, based on the civilian Jeep Gladiator (SJ). Design and development for the M715 began in 1965, intended to replace the Dodge M37. Chrysler Flathead Engine
The Chrysler flathead engine is a Sidevalve engine, flathead automotive engine manufactured by the Chrysler Corporation from 1924 through the early 1960s. The flathead engine came in four-,six-, and eight-cylinder configurations and varying displacement, with both a cast iron and cast aluminum cylinder head. It was installed in Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge and Plymouth branded vehicles. Straight-4 Chrysler introduced a Inline-four engine, straight-four derivative of their new flathead Straight-six engine, straight-six in 1926. A short-range ballistic missile (SRBM), it was in active service with the United States Army in West Germany from June 1958 to June 1964 as part of NATO's Cold War defense of Western Europe.
