Doctor At The Top (TV Series)
''Doctor at the Top'' is a British television comedy series based on a set of books by Richard Gordon about the misadventures of a group of doctors. With episodes written (though not jointly) by George Layton and Bill Oddie, the series follows directly from its predecessor ''Doctor Down Under'', eleven years earlier. It was produced by the BBC and broadcast on BBC1 in 1991. In this series the lead characters have all progressed in their careers: Waring and Collier are now surgeons, and Stuart-Clark is a professor. The series was not as well received as its predecessors and was cancelled after one series. According to Layton, it "depressed the whole nation", and Oddie dubbed it "Doctor Down The Drain". Robin Nedwell
Robin Courteney Nedwell (27 September 1946 – 1 February 1999) was an English actor. He is best remembered for his role as Duncan Waring in the television comedy series ''Doctor in the House'' and its sequels; he also featured in other television series such as '' The Lovers'', ''The Upchat Connection'', ''The Climber'' and the ATV comedy-drama '' Shillingbury Tales''. Biography He was born in Bournville, Birmingham, West Midlands, England but moved with his family at an early age to Cardiff, Wales, where he was educated at Monkton House prep school. Maria Collett (born July 21, 1974) is a Greek-born American politician serving as a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania State Senate who represents the 12th District. Her district includes portions of eastern Montgomery County and southern Bucks County. Collett is the first Greek American woman to serve in the Pennsylvania State Senate. ''Doctor in the House'' is a 1954 British comedy film directed by Ralph Thomas and produced by Betty Box. The screenplay, by Nicholas Phipps, Richard Gordon and Ronald Wilkinson, is based on the 1952 novel by Gordon, and follows a group of students through medical school. It was the most popular box office film of 1954 in Great Britain. Its success spawned six sequels, and also a television and radio series entitled ''Doctor in the House''. It made Dirk Bogarde one of the biggest British stars of the 1950s. Other well-known British actors featured in the film were Kenneth More, Donald Sinden and Donald Houston. Jayne Irving (born 30 August 1956, Sheffield, West Riding of Yorkshire) is a British TV presenter best known for appearing on the Breakfast Television show ''Good Morning Britain (1983), Good Morning Britain'', plus the BBC One weekday morning phone-in show ''Open Air'', which discussed some of the programmes that had been broadcast the night before. Career Irving began her broadcasting career reading the news bulletins on the Sheffield-based independent radio station Radio Hallam in the late 1970s. Irving worked as a reporter in Bristol before joining TV-am. Initially, she presented the news bulletins on "Good Morning Britain". John Clegg (actor)
John Walter Lawrence Clegg (born 9 July 1934) is an Indian-born English actor, best known for playing the part of Gunner 'Paderewski' Graham in the BBC sitcom ''It Ain't Half Hot Mum''. Early life and career Clegg was born on 9 July 1934 in Murree, British India (present-day Pakistan) to English parents. When he and his parents arrived back in England, Clegg became a student at RADA. After leaving RADA Clegg joined the Watford Palace Theatre Company, where he met Jimmy Perry, who would go on to cast Clegg in the role for which he is best known. It was there that he also met many of his future co-stars, including Michael Knowles, Donald Hewlett, and Mavis Pugh (whom he married in 1959). Paul Courtenay Hyu is a British–Chinese actor, writer and director. He works in English and German. He is sometimes credited as Paul Hyu, especially for his work as Elvis Impersonator, "ChineseElvis". Life and career Hyu was born in London. He was educated at Ashville College in Harrogate, where he was Head of Briggs House and won the school's drama prize.
