''Punch-Out!!'' is a 2009 boxing video game developed by Next Level Games for the Wii. It is the fifth and most recent mainline game in Nintendo's ''Punch-Out!!'' series, following the SNES version of '' Super Punch-Out!!'', and is a reboot of the series. Following an early release at the Nintendo World Store in New York City on May 16, 2009, the game was released on May 18, 2009, in North America, May 22, 2009, in Europe, July 23, 2009, in Japan, and August 27, 2009, in Australia (exclusively at JB Hi-Fi stores). An additional WiiWare title, ''Doc Louis's Punch-Out!!'', was released exclusively for North American Club Nintendo members on October 27, 2009. Punch-Out!! (arcade Game)
is an arcade boxing video game by Nintendo, developed in 1983 and released in February 1984. It was the first in a series of successful ''Punch-Out!!'' games. The arcade game was a global commercial success, becoming the top-performing arcade game of 1984 in the United States. It produced an arcade sequel known as '' Super Punch-Out!!'', a spin-off of the series titled ''Arm Wrestling'', a highly popular version for the NES originally known as ''Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!'', and '' Super Punch-Out!!'' for the SNES. WiiWare
WiiWare was a service that allowed Wii users to download games and applications specifically designed and developed for the Wii video game console made by Nintendo. These games and applications could only be purchased and downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel under the WiiWare section. Once the user had downloaded the game or application, it would appear in their Wii Menu or SD Card Menu as a new channel. WiiWare was a companion to the Virtual Console, which specializes in emulated games originally developed for other systems instead of original games. WiiWare was promoted as an avenue for developers with small budgets to release innovative, original, and smaller-scale games without the cost and risk of creating a title to be sold at retail (akin to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Store). The Wii Remote, also known colloquially as the Wiimote, is the primary game controller for Nintendo's Wii home video game console. An essential capability of the Wii Remote is its motion sensing capability, which allows the user to interact with and manipulate items on screen via motion sensing, gesture recognition, and pointing which is used for the console, using accelerometer and optical sensor technology. Donkey Kong (character)
, also shortened to DK, is a fictional gorilla in the ''Donkey Kong'' and ''Mario'' video game series, created by Shigeru Miyamoto. is a series of boxing video games created by Genyo Takeda and Makoto Wada, and published by Nintendo. The main protagonist and player character of the series is Little Mac, a short boxer from the Bronx who climbs the ranks of the fictional World Video Boxing Association (WVBA) by challenging various opponents. Super Punch-Out!! (SNES)
is a boxing video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was released on September 14, 1994 in North America and again in the same region in 1996. It was released in Europe on January 26, 1995 for the same console and in Japan in 1998 for the Nintendo Power flash RAM cartridge series and the Super Famicom. The game is also included in the GameCube version of ''Fight Night Round 2'' as an extra game due to the inclusion of Little Mac in the game. Mike Tyson
Michael Gerard Tyson (born June 30, 1966) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2005. Little Mac (Punch-Out!!)
is a fictional boxer and the main protagonist in Nintendo's '' Punch-Out!!'' series of video games. He first appeared in the Nintendo Entertainment System game '' Punch-Out!!''. He is the smallest and youngest of all the boxers in the games, being only 17 years old across all ''Punch-Out!!'' games. His signature attack is the "STAR Punch". Nintendo EShop
The Nintendo eShop is a digital distribution service powered by the Nintendo Network for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, and by a dedicated online infrastructure for the Nintendo Switch. Launched in June 2011 on the Nintendo 3DS, the eShop was enabled by the release of a system update that added the functionality to the Nintendo 3DS's HOME Menu. It is the successor to both the Wii Shop Channel and DSi Shop.
