Dobruja Plateau
The Dobruja Plateau or Dobrogea Plateau ( ro, Podișul Dobrogei) is a plateau in eastern Romania located in the Dobruja ( ro, Dobrogea) region, surrounded to the north and west by the Danube and to the east by the Danube Delta and the Black Sea. Its average altitude is around 200–300 metres, higher in the northern part. The highest point is the Țuțuiatu/Greci Peak in the Măcin Mountains, at a height of 467 m. The climate is slightly warmer and more arid than in the rest of Romania and as such, its flora contains some Mediterranean species. The Casimcea River and Taița River flow through it from west to east. There are several lakes, including some lagoons, the most important being Oltina Lake, Bugeac Lake, Mangalia Lake, Techirghiol Lake, Siutghiol Lake, Lake Tașaul, and Razim Lake. Techirghiol Lake
Techirghiol is a lake in Northern Dobruja, Romania, near the town with the same name. Etymology The name of the lake comes from the Turkish ''Tekirgöl'', meaning "Tekir's lake". The name also means (in Turkish) "Striped Lake" (tekir - striped, and göl - lake). This is because of the salinity of the lake; when the wind blows, white salt stripes appear on the surface of the lake. Legend of Tekir The legend says that once upon a time a crippled and blind old man named Tekir, riding on the back of his donkey, reached the shore of this lake by mistake. The old man tried to get out of that smelly mud for hours on end, but his stubborn donkey didn't want to move at all, as if a mysterious force was not letting him out of the lake. It was with great wonder and joy that the old man realized, when getting out of the lake, that his eyes could see light again, and that his feet, which had stopped working a long time ago, began to obey him. Medgidia Plateau
Medgidia ( or ; historical Turkish names: ''Karasu'' or ''Carasu'', ''Mecidiye'' or ''Megidie'') is a city in Constanța County, Northern Dobruja, south-eastern Romania. History Archaeological findings show that Dobruja was inhabited since the Neolithic period. Starting with 46 BC the region was administered by the Roman Empire. A castrum was built in the Carasu Valley, becoming the cradle of the settlement. In 1417, the Turks invaded Dobruja. Tulcea (; also known by other alternative names) is a city in Northern Dobruja, Romania. It is the administrative center of Tulcea County, and had a population of 73,707 . One village, Tudor Vladimirescu, is administered by the city. Casimcea is a commune in Tulcea County, Northern Dobruja, Romania. It is composed of six villages: Casimcea, Cișmeaua Nouă (historical name: ''Ramazanchioi''), Corugea, Haidar, Rahman and Războieni (historical name: ''Alifacâ''). Razim Lake
Lake Razelm or Lake Razim (, ''Limanul Razelm'') is the name of a large freshwater lagoon on the shores of the Black Sea in Romania, south of the Danube Delta and part of its World Heritage Site. It is the largest liman in Romania. The name is also sometimes applied to the complex it forms with several other limans and lagoons. This complex can be separated into two subgroups. The northern subgroup contains freshwater Razelm and Lake Golovița, which are connected by a channel wide, whereas the southern group is made up of salt lakes.
