''Kill, I Oughtta '' is the debut extended play of American heavy metal band Mudvayne. It was self-released by the band in 1997. In 2001, the EP was reissued by Epic Records under the title ''The Beginning of All Things to End''. The reissue featured, as additional tracks, remixes of "Dig", the rare unreleased track "Fear", and "L.D. 50", a 17-minute sound collage which originally appeared as interludes on that album. It is the only release by Mudvayne to have any participation from original bassist Shawn Barclay. Music and lyrics According to Matthew McDonough, the EP was "thrown together" for the band's fans. It consists of five studio tracks originally intended for a demo, and three live tracks. No studio versions exist for the three live tracks "I.D.I.O.T.", "Central Disposal" and "Coal". It was released on November 18, 2008, by Epic Records, and its first single, " Do What You Do", began receiving airplay on September 23, 2008. The album debuted and peaked at No. 15 on the ''Billboard'' 200, selling 48,000 copies in its first week, and more than 215,000 copies in the United States . "Dull Boy" is a single from American heavy metal band Mudvayne's 2007 album '' By the People, For the People'', later included on the band's 2008 studio album '' The New Game''. Lyrical themes At the beginning of the song, Chad Gray repeats " All work and no play makes me a dull boy" four times, elevating his voice from a whisper to a scream with each repetition. This is a reference to '' The Shining''. The band has stated in numerous interviews that Stanley Kubrick is Mudvayne's favorite director.
