''Do It Like an Hombre'' ( es, Hazlo como hombre) is a 2017 Mexican-Chilean comedy-drama film written and directed Nicolás López. The film starred by Mauricio Ochmann, Alfonso Dosal and Aislinn Derbez in lead roles along with Humberto Busto, Ignacia Allamand and Ariel Levy. The film grossed $182.17 million pesos in Mexico, and is the sixth highest-grossing Mexican film. In Spanish. Plot Raúl (Mauricio Ochmann), Eduardo (Humberto Busto) and Santiago (Alfonso Dosal) have led a happy and "masculine" life from their childhood, until, one day, Santiago confesses to them that he is gay. Raúl reacts negatively to this revelation, trying to convince Santiago that it's just a phase, which damages his relationship. Nicolás López (director)
Nicolás Javier López Fernández (born March 16, 1983) is a Chilean film director, producer and screenwriter. He is known for comedies such as ''Promedio Rojo'' (2004), the ''Qué pena'' trilogy (2010-2012), and the Paz Bascuñán vehicles '' Sin filtro'' (2016) and ''No estoy loca'' (2018). In June 2018, a few months after López begun working on a film project about the MeToo movement, the magazine ''Sábado'' of ''El Mercurio'' published a report where various actresses made claims of sexual and workplace abuses against him. In an ensuing trial, López was in 2022 found guilty of two sexual abuse charges and sentenced to five years and one day in prison. Life and work López became interested in filmmaking at a young age. Bechdel Test
The Bechdel test ( ) is a measure of the representation of women in film (and, by extension, in fiction in general). The test asks whether a film features at least two women talking to each other about something other than a man. The measure sometimes is enhanced by adding that the two female characters be named in the film. Passing or failing the test is not necessarily indicative of how well women are represented in any specific work. Rather, the test is used as an indicator for the active presence of women in the entire field of film and other fiction, and to call attention to gender inequality in fiction. Media industry studies indicate that films that pass the test perform better financially than those that do not. The test is named after the American cartoonist Alison Bechdel, in whose 1985 comic strip ''Dykes to Watch Out For'' the test first appeared. GLAAD (), an acronym of Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, is an American non-governmental media monitoring organization originally founded as a protest against defamatory coverage of gay and lesbian demographics and their portrayals in the media and entertainment industries; it has since included bisexual and transgender people.
