Dnipro Choir
Dnipro Choir is a Ukrainian choir of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv that was founded in 1843. In 1860th the choir was under the artistic direction of Mykola Lysenko Mykola Vitaliyovych Lysenko ( uk, Мико́ла Віта́лійович Ли́сенко; 22 March 1842 – 6 November 1912) was a List of Ukrainian composers, Ukrainian composer, pianist, conductor and ethnomusicologist of the late Romantic mus .... In 1908 the choir performed under the baton of Oleksandr Koshyts. Some famous musicians were associated with the choir, including regents Assing and Sokhanovsky, Volodymyr Stanislavsky; well-known composers Mykola Lysenko (founder of Ukrainian classical music), Yakiv Yatsynevych, Yakiv Kalishevskyi, Porfiry Demutsky; legendary choral conductor and composer Oleksandr Koshyts. Oleksandr Koshyts
Alexander Koshetz (12 September 1875 – 21 September 1944) was a Ukrainian choral conductor, arranger, composer, ethnographer, writer, musicologist, and lecturer. He helped popularize Ukrainian music around the world. His name is sometimes transliterated as Oleksandr Koshyts ( uk, Олександр Кошиць, links=no). At one time, a performance of Koshetz's Ukrainian National Chorus held the world record for audience attendance, excluding sporting events. His performance also popularized Mykola Leontovych's " Shchedryk" in his concert, which Peter Wilhousky later translated into the popular "Carol of the Bells".
