Dmitry Petelin
Dmitriy Aleksandrovich Petelin (Russian Cyrillic: Дмитрий Александрович Петелин; born July 10, 1983, in Kustanai, Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic, Kazakh SSR, now Kazakhstan) is a Russian cosmonaut who was part of the List of astronauts by year of selection#2012, 2012 selection group. Biography Petelin graduated from the South Ural State University in 2006 with a degree in aircraft and helicopter engineering. Following graduation, he worked as an engineer for NIK, LLC. On October 26, 2012, he became a cosmonaut and reported to the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. He completed cosmonaut training and was named a test cosmonaut on July 15, 2014. The Yuri A. Gagarin State Scientific Research-and-Testing Cosmonaut Training Center (GCTC; Russian: Центр подготовки космонавтов имени Ю. А. Гагарина) is a Russian training facility responsible for training cosmonauts for their space missions. It is in Star City of Moscow Oblast, a name which may refer to the facility itself or to its grounds. Formation The facility was originally known only as Military Unit 26266 or в/ч 26266, and was a secret training base for Soviet Cosmonaut candidates. The site was chosen for its proximity to Moscow and other infrastructure that would be essential for its function: Chkalovsky Airport, and the Yaroslavl railroad. Kostanay ( kz, Қостанай, Qostanai ) is a city located on the Tobol River in northern Kazakhstan. Expedition 68 is the 68th long-duration expedition to the International Space Station. The expedition began upon the departure of Soyuz MS-21 on 29 September 2022, with ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti taking over as ISS commander. Initially, the expedition consisted of Cristoforetti and her three SpaceX Crew-4 crewmates Kjell N. Lindgren, Bob Hines and Jessica Watkins, as well as Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev, Dmitry Petelin and American astronaut, Francisco Rubio, who launched aboard Soyuz MS-22 on September 21, 2022 and were transferred from Expedition 67 alongside the Crew-4 astronauts.
