Dmitri Sukhorukov
Dmitri Semyonovich Sukhorukov (russian: Дми́трий Семёнович Сухору́ков; 2 November 1922 – 8 July 2003) was a Red Army General of the army who commanded the Soviet airborne between 1979 and 1987, during the Soviet–Afghan War. Sukhorukov fought as company commander in the 104th Guards Rifle Division during World War II and served in the 7th Guards Airborne Division postwar. In September 1962, he became the commander of the 98th Guards Airborne Division. He commanded the 2nd Army Corps from July 1968. After graduating from the Military Academy of the General Staff, Sukhorukov commanded the Central Group of Forces in November 1976. From January 1979 to July 1987, he was the commander of the Soviet airborne, overseeing its operations in Afghanistan. In July 1987, he became the deputy defence minister for personnel and in 1990 was in the Group of Inspectors General. After retiring in 1992, Sukhorokov died on 8 July 2003. Korochansky Uyezd
Korochansky Uyezd (Russian: Корочанский уезд) was one of the ''uyezds'' (administrative units) of Kursk Governorate of the Russian Empire and then of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic with its center in Korocha until its formal abolition in 1924 by Soviet authorities. History Korochansky County became an administrative unit in the mid-1600s. Korochansky county was part of the nearby settlements of the Belgorod defensive line. Korochansky county was formally abolished as an administrative unit in 1708 during the regional reforms of Peter the Great. Korocha became part of Kiev Governorate. In 1719, the province was divided, and became part of the Belgorod Governorate of Kiev Governorate. In 1727, Beglrod province, consisting of Belgorod, Orel and Sevsk provinces was allocated. 80th Airmobile Brigade (Ukraine)
The 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade ( uk, 80-та окрема десантно-штурмова бригада ; Military Unit Number A0284) is an airmobile formation of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces. The brigade traces its history back to the 80th Airborne Regiment, formed in 1955 as part of the Soviet airborne's 7th Guards Airborne Division. Four years later, the regiment transferred to the 104th Guards Airborne Division. It participated in Operation Whirlwind in 1956 and Operation Danube in 1968. In 1979, the regiment was disbanded and used to form the 39th and 40th Separate Air Assault Brigades of the Soviet Army. The 39th Separate Air Assault Brigade became the 224th Training Center after transfer back to the Soviet airborne in 1990. The training center was taken over by Ukraine in 1992 with the dissolution of the Soviet Union and became the 6th Separate Airmobile Brigade in 1995.
